You are probably still swollen. It takes a while to go down, but in another couple of weeks things should be better. If you have no appetite, you must force yourself to eat by the clock--every three hours. Protein first, as much as you can, (took me about 2 months to get in 60 gms) and remember that shakes count as liquids. You can do this!

Thank you! I can not stand the Protein drinks!! Any advice on this! They are gritty and thick!!

I have heard ppl mention Protein Shots. They say they are gritty but not near as bad as the shakes and, my thinking, its alot easier to drink a couple ounces of something mildly gritty than a serving of something extra gritty. That's just me though. I haven't tried anything yet so I am not the best source as far as taste, I just know what I read.

Mostly I am posting to say WAY TO GO!!!! 50 pounds in 3 weeks!! Holy crap! At this rate you will be at your goal b4 the end of august lol ;) Kudos! Just stick to what you CAN do for now and do your best at it and try not to worry about what you can't do yet. Think of it this way. If you had knees surgery 3 weeks ago you wouldn't be expecting to run yet, you would have to give it time to heal. The same goes for your tummy. Just hobble along as best as you can and b4 you know it you'll be thinking back on this difficulty as a distant memory :)

At 3 weeks, you are still swollen. This will get better with time. I think it was after my 4th or 5th week when I did not feel as stuffed. The restriction will always be there but it let's you know when to stop eating. Congrats on the weight loss.

I bought Creamy vanilla "Pure" from Walmart and tried my first shake yesterday. I got a little fancy and put it in my "Ninja" with Almond unsweetened milk and ice. It came out like a Wendy's frosty.. very go and not gritty. My intent is to buy some fresh or frozen fruits to add to this. It was truly delicious.

You've got to force yourself to have the Protein. If you don't, part of your weight loss is going to be muscle and loss of muscle will slow your metabolism. I used to be able to drink "Muscle Milk" shakes and now if I even look at one it'll make me gag. I'm now using Bariatric Advantage shakes (look for them on-line) which I mail-order and they're tolerable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
