Fills with Dr. Steven Clark, Indianapolis

Recommended Posts

I was banded in Mexico June 8. I scheduled a fill with Steven Clark, Indianapolis on July 20. Does anyone know anything about him?? I read a few reviews of him on obesityhelp.com. but none talked about his fill skill.

I'd like to know too, as I have been looking for a doctor in Indiana to do my fills. I've emailed and called about 15 doctors and either I didn't get a response or was told they don't work on Mexican banded patients. I'm getting frustrated. Dr. C (who posts on this site) is in Cincinatti, he is my next option.

Hi there I just got my fill done with Dr. Clark one week ago. They were unable to find my port because the surgeon in Mexico placed it so far down. Plus there is a good amount of fat on my lower abdomen, but Dr Clark was awesome, he is a very friendly guy. Nice staff. I just moved to Indianapolis from Colorado and everone around here is much more friendly. Dr Clark is a real cutie too. The only thing that I didn't like about my adjustment is that he will only do 1cc at a time and will not do any more than that. So I really don't have restriction yet. I am going to call this week and see if they are willing to see me again to give me another fill, I desperately want to lose this weight and I can eat pretty large portions still. Good luck with your fill. I hope it works out well for you.

He charged me $250.00. If you talk to Amy in the office she'll be able to give you more info. But I also had to have the flouro used on me which was another $450.00, but the insurance pays for that. Even though they would not pay for the surgery most insurances will pay for the flouroscopy. If you were banded in Mexico it is likely that they will have to use the flouro on you too. Dr Clark says that in mexico the surgeons ususally place the access port in the lower left part of your abdomen, and in the U.S. they place the porton the upper right side of your abdomen so that it is easier to access. Good luck. The fills are worth the cost. And if you really think about it you may only need to do 2 or 3 fills before you hit your sweet spot. This first fill for me has limited some of my food intake but definitely not enough. I know the next one should be much better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
