Ok, so my wonderful OH is very laid back and supportive, but last night even he snapped!

Basically, he has been having a hard time with friends of his noticing my weight loss, and he feels that every time someone comments, what they are actually implying is "wow wasn't your wife fat!". And to top that off I got all excited because I got deal on some power acai pills.

He went mad, and basically said I dont know where to stop, and he thinks I'll end up killing myself! I personally think that there is nothing wrong in taking something natural to help speed the process, but I thought I'd throw this open. What do you guys think?

Sounds like he was just having a bad day. Maybe someone said something particular that was offensive? Acai seems like a pretty mild thing - at least you aren't buying prescription diet pills :-) Give him a big hug, let him know how much you need him in your life and then maybe take it easy on the "surgery talk". I know it is almost all I talk about and I bore myself! You can come here to Celebrate your Acai find.

Considering the big change you and your partner have been through, he is entitled to blow off a little steam. I'm sure he didn't mean it in a bad way - he clearly cares about you.

I wouldn't take any nutritional supplements without my surgeon's permission. The contents/quality/dosage of supplements are not monitored by the FDA and you really don't know what's in there...

My husband became territorial when I lost my weight. He would get super touchy-feely in public. If he even remotely "thought" another man was checking me out, he'd come over wrap his arm around my waist and "stake" his claim.

One particular incident occurred while we were on base shopping shortly after his deployment. I was browsing while he was getting his pants tacked for alterations. A higher ranking gentleman walked up, simply browsing on the same 4way display that I happen to be standing at, and all he just something along the lines of "hi, how are ya?". . . Well, J marched over, slapped his arm around my waist, and kissed my forehead. The gentleman turned away, and I affectionately smiled at my adorable husband, and said " you can stop hiking your leg on my thigh". That night we had a long discussion about my weight loss, and I point blank told him "I'd leave you fat too!"

As for the supplements, I'm not familiar with Acai stuff. But, your husband just might feel you're becoming obsessive. I know my husband became the "food police" and freaked out when I'd eat 1/2cup of food and be done. I think it's simply out of concern.

I hope everything gets better, and things settle down between y'all. Lots of communication and reassurance is all we can really do to help through all these changes.

That is toooo funny!!! Sounds like something I would say!

I wouldn't worry too much about the Acai supplements. I agree with a PP, give him a hug and tell him you love hima nd appreciate his concern.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
