What do you eat?

I am throwing this out here for whomever to post. I have been

reading everyones post. I have noticed that everyones weight loss is

different. Some people lose slow and some fast. Mattie's info on her

last post was wonderful. "Mattie thanks for posting the rules and

the things that you eat." That has given me some ideas that I know

will help me on the long run and will surely use.

I am sure there are some newbies and slow losers that would like to

ask this question. So I will do it for everyone. We all need some

ideas and help on this journey.

To all the great losers: The magic ??? is...What are you eating

and/or doing that is helping you lose the weight? What has helped

you be so successful in your journey?

I'm not as successful as others but I am to myself.

My basic food is cottage cheese in the mornings and a salad at lunch with chicken.< /p>

I don't always have the same thing everyday sometimes for lunch a bowl of Soup and sushi, or a bowl of chili, or tuna salad.

I always think Protein first and something that's gonna stay in the stomach for awhile.

Its become a habit of having tea before each meal.

Dinners are small, whatever I cook for the family but on a salad plate.

Exersize whenever possible even if its walking, hikeing or chaseing kids.

VERA!! your doing great!!! i bet your looking pretty darn sexy at -60 pounds!!!

i follow the Atkins diet

32 oz Water

for breakfast- 1 scram egg with cheese

32 oz Water

lunch- 2-3 oz of meat (1/2 of a small-medium chicken breast, 3/4 of a burger no bun add tomatoe and lettuce, 1 pork tenderlion chop, mostly chicken though) and 1/4 -1/2 cup veggies asparagus, broccoli, salad greens, green Beans etc.

any more water is a bonus! i used to do 96 oz but now 64 is my goal!

dinner- same as lucnh! 2-3 oz of meat (1/2 of a small-medium chicken breast, 3/4 of a burger no bun add tomatoe and lettuce, 1 pork tenderlion chop, mostly chicken though) and 1/4 -1/2 cup veggies asparagus, broccoli, salad greens, green Beans etc.

today for lunch i have some ground chuck hamburger meat with taco seasoning, cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, sliced avacodo and ranch dressing. it is about 3/4 cup total. since it is a 'saucier' item i can eat about 3/4 cup.

i choose to diet because i had alot to lose and want to get to 200 pounds or size 14 before i stop dieting. i chose the atkins because while i have to give up -fruits(except blueberries, rasberries and kiwi), juice, Pasta and bread i can still eat full fat ranch and cheese. i dont snack on cheese but i'll sprinkle a bit on my broccoli! its just easier for me to follow!

hope this helps!

Hi Jackie,

When I started out, I did Atkins most of the time. Now as i get further along in my weight loss journey, I need some healthy carbs. I eat chili, Beans, whole wheat Pasta, low carb bread, some low carb pitas etc. I just dont eat much of any one thing.

Sample day:

2 cups of coffee

Water

Protein shake

lunch: chili, tuna, low carb toast, chicken, egg beaters with cheese and ham etc.

dinner: meat of some kind, vegetable, sometimes a couple of tablespoons of rice or potato. Last night I had chicken Soup and a low carb roll with ham, cheese and cucumbers with diet mayo.< /p>

Snack: Skinny Cow Low carb Peanut Butter and chocolate ice cream, sometimes a low carb chocolate bar or Jello

I know, sounds a little boring, but I do eat stuff when I am hungry.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
