Telly 4 Posted July 10, 2006 Has anyone here tried boxing? I used to take kickboxing classes back in 1998 - 2000 but this is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about actual boxing/training, i.e., sparring, jump roping, speed bag, bag punching..etc. I need variety in my workouts since I do it everyday, practically and I know me and ME gets very bored after awhile of doing the same things. There is a boxing gym not far from me that I am thinking about checking out this week to see if it's for me. Costs $75.00 per month and $25 registration fee. I have to come with all my equipment which only costs roughly $75.00 (gloves, hand wraps, head guard, jump rope). I have heard, read and have seen the results of what boxing training can do to a body in such a short time and let me tell you...the results are amazing!!!! Refound_Hope 0 Posted July 10, 2006 would you end up fighting anyone? That reminds me of million dollar baby. Let me know how that work out goes.
Tricia K. 0 Posted July 11, 2006 Boxing sounds cool but I still think that Krav Maga is the way to go.
Jachut 487 Posted July 11, 2006 I've only done bits of it in circuit classes but I love it. And like Tae Bo there's lots and lots of trunk rotation if you punch properly, it will whittle down your torso, that's for sure. I'd love to do a class too.
Leila 0 Posted July 11, 2006 The kind of kickboxing I used to do, sport kickboxing, used a -lot- of basic boxing techniques and training, we used the same stance as boxers do, and all the same upper body striking techniques, jab, punch, upper cut, cross, etc. Lots of bag work, sparring, etc. I love it. I like martial arts the best out of all excerise types because it is always changing with you, as soon as you get good at something, there are new techniques to learn, tougher challenges to face, it's constantly changing and challenging you. I can't wait to be able to train again.
Telly 4 Posted July 25, 2006 I cancelled my appt. with the trainer at the boxing studio. I think I'll order a boxing DVD to get the basics down first, the wean my way into the studio. I don't want to go in and look like a totally clueless girl. Will follow up soon.
Telly 4 Posted July 26, 2006 Sissy. :heh: Uhhh uhhhh! I mean come on! I went there to check it out.... ALL MEN! You think I feel comfy with that? I want to be more confident in my jabbing and upper cut skillz before I enter that gym to box.
