What should I expect when I visit the cardiologist? I'm in the midst of scheduling all these different appointments, and I'm pretty clear on what the Gastroenterologist, Psychiatrist, and Nutritionist visits will entail. When ever I think of a cardiologist I get visions of an episode of The Cosby Show when Cliff had to run on a treadmill. It started off slow and he was showboating, and as the speed increased he lost his composure and could hardly breathe at the end. LOL I hope I dont have to do that.

I never needed a stress test (the treadmill thing). My appointment was just an EKG. Done in the hospital, in a side room with a recliner, while I went over a pre-op questionnaire with a nurse. Did it in my regular clothes (pulled shirt up) and all.

Due to my diabetes my PCP made me see a cardiologist - he put me through the ringer pretty much I had an EKG, an echo, a normal treadmill test, then a treadmill test with the injections, I don't even know what it's called... I hear most get an EKG, with some having to do a stress test as well.

I only did an EKG as well. They put some of those led's on my chest, side and leg and it was about 2 minutes and I was done!

Easy, peasy!!

I had an EKG and an ECHO (because I was on Phen Phen before they recalled it) The EKG was easy and the ECHO was like an ultrasound. I was in and out with no problem. My PCP needed these both to clear me for my surgeon since I am doing my surgery out of state.

My Ekg showed inverted T waves. So off to the cardiologist. And yes I was on Phen Phen for a short time. Another EKG, a heart sonogram, a thallium stress test when they put radioactive liquid into your veins and then you get on the treadmill. After much stress and freaking out about what was wrong... the Dr. said he couldn't find anything wrong and gave me a cardiac clearance.

Thanks all! I'm hoping my clearance is on the simpler side too, the EKG thing sounds like a breeze.

Hey Kayyybeee!

I did the cardiology clearance w/ Dr Dutta. I had the ekg & echo in his office then had to go to Lawrence for the stress test w/c was on the treadmill for only like 5 min. All in all in weren't long or stressful appointments, just spread out on different days and times.

I have the same question... I was finally able to get mine scheduled for this Friday, and they told me to prepare for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. What could possibly take that long?

Mine was a lot like Cliff's, lol. I was about to die when that treadmill was going fast on the steep incline. And it takes a few hours because they put you in a machine that takes the pictures.
