Hello.... I'm new to this forum. I plan on sharing my weight loss surgery journey in the near future but I just have a quick question. When people comment that they are nauseous/vomitting immediately and a couple of days post surgery, is it because of the anesthesia? Or is it an effect directly from the surgery? I guess my question is if I've had surgery before and was not nauseous after (I've had a few surgeries) can I expect the same thing if I were to be sleeved??? Sounds like a silly question I'm sure but for me throwing up is the WORST!! Not that it would deter me from being sleeved, just wondering. Thanks!

Hello!

The only time i felt nauseous, was right after surgery. But i never threw up. But to this day, if i eat too much i will throw up white stuff (sorry T.M.I)

I had my surgery on June 28,2010. I've had a few other surgeries, this was the only time i felt nauseous after.

Good Luck!!

I did not have any post-op nausea or vomiting. Some surgeons wait to see if you will have nausea/vomiting before medicating you but my surgeon gives the anti-nausea meds to everyone. I think initially nausea is from the anasthesia but if you are given opioids for pain relief they can also cause nausea.

Hi-

at first it was from the surgery...

three days later, soft foods, I was fine and then stage III was a set back...

I went back to stage II for a week, then started with stage III again...

no more nausea or vomiting but some things, like chicken, is hard to eat...

tonight 4 bites of chicken... 2 bites of potato... these are small bites...

the amount I eat, pretty much the size of my thumb...

if it is softer foods- yogurt, cottage cheese... 1/2 cup still...

I never had nausea after the surgery. The surgeon and anesthesiologist were both in the room before surgery when I asked the surgeon how likely it would be that I would be nauseous. The surgeon said that I definitely would be but did not indicate that he would give me anything for it unless it was really needed. The anesthesiologist did give me some anti-nausea medication when they put me under - I think that is why I didn't experience it. I did have some pain in one incision (the one they took my stomach out of - it was/is bruised the worst), but the nurse gave me a different pain medication in addition to the PCA and it took care of it. I have not taken any pain medication since being released from the hospital (and probably before that - but they kept giving it to me even though I had no pain).

I never even used gas-x or anything like that for gas. It all passed naturally. I had always been very gassy before surgery, which is why I think I didn't need anything else.

There have been a couple of times since I came home where I ate too fast and didn't feel well afterwards - but it wasn't nauseated. It was more of an uncomfortable pressure than anything else.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
