Feeling Sorry for Myself

Recommended Posts

I am now 11 weeks out and going into my second month of a stall. I work in a doctor's office and we have reps bring lunch a couple times a week. There is usually always something I can eat: grilled chicken, green Beans, salad, etc. Today the rep brought boxed lunches: sandwich, chips, chocolate brownie, banana. I was so disappointed and for a minute regretted what I had done to myself. I couldn't take a box and waste everything except the sandwich innards and half a banana. So I went to the cafeteria and got a burger patty. And I was feeling sorry for myself the whole way there.

I lost so much so fast at the beginning that I didn't regret not being able to eat much. I could see pounds coming off every day. Now here I am having not lost a single pound since June 16. It's so hot here that I can't stand walking. When I get home from work it is still in the high 80s/low 90s with a ridiculous heat index. (Tennessee swelters in the summer.) I had been doing the Wii Fit, but it just doesn't seem to be pushing me. So last night I bought The Biggest Loser Challenge for my Wii. I'm going to start on it tonight. Anybody tried it?

If doing this new exercise routine doesn't get things moving in the next couple weeks, I am going to back track to purees. I lost quite a bit during that phase, but the variety of things to puree kept my appetite in check.

I going through the same thing. The last few days I have been feeling upset about my weight loss. I'm eight month out and lost 76 pounds and lost nothing this last month. I'm worring if I'm done losing but I stil have 52 pounds to go. Also in NY it is so hot this week and I usually walk 2 miles a day. My Wii broke but I used to like doing the Wii fit. I have a free week at the gym so I'm going to use it. I would not go back to puree food, just see what your eating, and make sure your eating enough Protein. I believe the heat can make a difference in weight loss so it is even more important to drink enough Water. Feel better, Janne

The wii fit doesn't even make me sweat, but biggest loser does. You can really push yourself and get a good workout w/biggest loser. good luck!

Have you ever tried Zumba? Now that will make you sweat. You can get their DVD's online. Or watch some of them on youtube to get an idea of what its all about. Plus I know there are tons of Zumba classes everywhere.

I've bought some dvd's and once I am able to exercise going to try it. Looks like fun. And I've heard lots of good reviews about it.

Good luck. The pounds will come off again.

I am sure that you probably know this, but make sure you are eating enough. I was not losing for about 2 1/2 weeks and figured out that I was not getting enough calories. I upped my calories by about 200 and started losing again!!

There is also Zumba for Wii, but I haven't tried it. I tried Just Dance 2 for Wii and I love it. I've also been doing Turbo Jam on dvd. Its a little slower lower impact than Tae Bo so I can keep up easier. Its way too hot to do anything outside here.

:)

Don't put your choices in the hand of others. Take time to pack your own lunch, that way you know exactly how much oil, salt, etc in is the food you are eating. If this makes a difference, you know it's the way the food is prepared.

Every month I don't lose for days, or weeks then I lose a pound a day for a bunch of days. Once I got very close to goal, had to step up the workouts...Last 20 ARE the hardest.

Could the heat have something to do with it? The hotter it is the more fluids you need. Could you up your fluids that much more? Because your body could be holding onto whatever you have

Also I agree that you need to pack your own lunch or have something available that you have as a backup. That way you have what you need at the ready.

Thanks for all the replies! I hadn't thought about the heat issue. Actually the doctor's office where I work is ALWAYS cold and I wear a jacket most of the day. Also I park in a garage so the car doesn't get too terribly hot. So I don't really think it's a Fluid issue, although I am making more of an effort now.

I am also getting back to basics with measuring my food. Since I moved to a regular diet, I have mainly been eyeing what I eat and I am probably not too accurate. I did pack my lunch today, even though we have a lunch coming. That way if there's nothing I can eat, I will not have to settle for something that a) I don't want; and B) is not the best choice.

I do feel hungry often, but I'm sure it's head hunger or acid because it happens right after I eat (like 15-30 minutes following a meal). I take omeprazole every night but I wonder if I need something stronger. I'll have to talk to my PCP.

I started on The Biggest Loser Challenge last night. Wow! That is a workout. My calves, upper arms and abs are sore today. I hope that 4 to 5 days a week of this will get those numbers falling again. I was proud of myself that after the fitness test it deemed me ready for the moderate workout and not the light. I'm not as big a lump as I thought. :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
