I picked up a box today in the freezer section. It has 6 microwavable bags of shelled edamame (soybeans). each bag is 2 servings with the following nut. stats per serving: 90 cals.; 2.5 g. fat; 8g carbs (3g dietary fiber); and EIGHT grams of protein!!!

Is this ok to eat? It's a vegetable but it's not too much Fiber like celery or coconut right? (i read the horror story someone posted about the coconut Fiber staying in their stomach). It's more like a firm pea.

I want to try these for my afternoon snack at work......does anyone else eat them?

I really feel like I need VEGGIES! i work so hard to get Protein in with little room left for veggies, so it would be nice to "double dip" and get BOTH at the same time ;)

Yes this is something I see on a lot of wls boards as things people like and eat. I have some frozen in and I am not really sure what to do with it. I put it in my salad at salad bars and I really like it!

Edamame is the Japanese name for soybeans cooked in the pod. Shelled they are good in salad or eaten like a snack. They are typically served at Japanese bars and restaurants with the shell on and accompanied by soy sauce/ wasabi for dipping. You dip the pod in soy sauce/wasabi mixture then suck out the Beans. McDonald's Asian chicken Salad has edamame. You can make a similar salad at home by using snow peas, mandarin oranges, edamame, and a little jarred red pepper on a bed of lettuce topped with Newman's Own Low-Fat Sesame Ginger Dressing. Yum!

Edamame is immature soybeans and is an excellent source of Protein, although it does have carbs also. Tofu is a form of soybeans and is used in vegetarian diets as meat substitute. I never really thought about how to use them in recipes because I just love them straight from the pod. There are several recipes on Allrecipes.com so search there and enjoy!!! Kathe

I love them as a healthy snack, and enjoy them in the pod too, I like playing with my food a bit!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
