Eyemallrt 16 Posted July 16, 2011 So I am wondering what I will need for the first few weeks after surgery. Can some one help me with a detailed list of Vitamins, Protein Drinks, drinks, foods , OTC medications I should get? I've read that some use liquid or chewable vitamins and meds. Also I've seen some ppl talk about a Protein pill? I realize that we want to get our protein from our foods as much as possible, but I think it would help to have a pill to supplement on some days, eg backup for when eating away from home. Also, I would like to know what time of day you take your vitamins. I have a hard time with them before surgery because they upset my stomach if I take them in the morning, and keep me awake if I take them at night. Thanks all for your help. Nancy Rivers 24 Posted July 18, 2011 My surgeon's office has given me a lot of the details. For example, I received at my pre-op teaching appointment (2 weeks before surgery) a folder with about 30 pages in it giving sample menus, timetables for taking Vitamins, shopping list of things to have for after surgery, etc. They also made me purchase my first supply of Vitamins and Calcium at that time. You're tastes will change after the surgery, so I wouldn't stock up on a lot of things. Before surgery, I really liked Protein shakes, now those same shakes don't taste as good to me.
