Hi everyone, I tested positive for h. pylori and started the treatment yesterday. Has anyone else had this experience? The 3 medication cocktail I have to take for 2 weeks is making my saliva taste like perfume. It is so gross and actually kept me awake last night. If you did have to treat h. pylori before surgery what was your experience? Did it postpone or affect your surgery? Did you get this same side effect as I did? It supposedly only happens in 7% of people and I am a lucky one. I would like to hear anyone's story who has also gone through this. I was completely asymptomatic and would never have known I had it if it wasn't a routine pre-op test that my surgeon does.

I tested positive for it as well. I was quite surprised and actually angry about it. I'm on my second day of the "cocktail" as well. All I can test in my mouth is the medicine. I've brushed my teeth twice this morning, and still can't get the taste out of my mouth or throat. It's gonna be a long two weeks. I haven't been scheduled yet, however, they (bariatric team) told me that it shouldn't effect the surgery at all, and I wouldn't have to do another egd to see if it's gone. My surgeon says that it's actually quite common, and not to stress over it. Interesting the different information that we get. Good Luck, I'll be thinking of you.
