LOL I ams so nervous about the upcoming surgery... Went to get my stess test yesterday and they had my surgery listed as the 28th. I knew they changed it from the 27th to the 28th awhile back. The OR nurse called this morning and she said she had me scheduled for the 26th.... I received paper work for the surgery from the Doc's office today and it says the 26th.... I called to ask what day to show up and haven't got a call back yet.. I hope I show up on the right day... I know my Dr. likes to do all lap bands one day and all bypass the next day and all vsg the next day... Silly thought... what happens if I end up with the wrong surgery... I know that won't happen.. just more of my silly brain going "What if..." Thanks for letting me vent some of my crazy thoughts and nerves.

Khy,

That kind of swing in the scheduling would make anyone wonder. But remember on surgery day...you will be asked probably 10 times by each person what you are there for. No worries. You will be tired of saying you are there for VSG by the time they actually do the procedure. NO WORRIES :P

Thanks. Guess I need to control my brain but when I an tired is when it starts playing "What if" with me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
