mythreechildren2001 7 Posted July 14, 2011 I was wondering how long everyone had to take their pain meds post op. I'm on liquid lortab which is only for 3 days. The dr told me to call if I needed more, but I'm really hoping that I won't. What would you say are the odds of that?
kellyw74 258 Posted July 14, 2011 I was given the same thing you have, but never took it after I left the hospital. I did go and get some liquid tylenol and took it a couple of times when I pulled my stitches from sneezing. I didn't want to take the Lortab and drive! stilloozen 1 Posted July 14, 2011 I didn't need any pain meds after day 3, and I never had to take more than 1. Hope this helps.
DDA84 2 Posted July 14, 2011 I am day 3 post-op and for the last two night have only been using my pain meds at night to help me sleep. I don't really need them during the day. They have been giving me some crazy dreams, though - don't know what's up with that!
SmallerSoon 0 Posted July 14, 2011 I took my pain meds for prolly 3 days but it was more for the gas pains. Nothing else I took would help so.......
Infernored 5 Posted July 15, 2011 I took it for a couple days right before bed. But liquid lortab tastes to nasty, I get an evil chill just remembering. blech!!!
Chatty 0 Posted July 15, 2011 Hi I had my sleeve done on 5th July... Gotta say, on the second day I told the nurse I didn't feel I needed the pain killers - and I've never taken them since! I'm not being brave or foolish - I simply haven't needed them! I haven't been sick either, or suffered with wind. I can't believe I've had it done - it's incredible I was wondering how long everyone had to take their pain meds post op. I'm on liquid loritab which is only for 3 days. KathyD49 2 Posted July 15, 2011 My surgeon NEVER gave me any narcotic pain medication! He told me in advance that he didn't use narcotics. Only thing he gave was Toradol, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory. (Sort of like Motrin on steroids.) I was mildly uncomfortable, and did wish I had a little bit more powerful pain medication the first two nights. But after that was fairly comfortable and declined even the Toradol. mythreechildren2001 7 Posted July 15, 2011 I took a dose last night before bed, but I'm going to attempt to get off of it today. I haven't taken anything this morning, and the only pain/discomfort I have is at my largest incision site. It only hurts when I walk, and a pillow doesn't help much. I was wondering if wrapping an ace bandage around my abdomen would be ok??
readytolive 1 Posted July 15, 2011 It's Friday and I had my surgery on Tuesday. The made me take pain meds until Wed night but I haven't taken any since they made it my option. I've been doing a lot of walking and that has helped. However, I did take my first oral antibiotic this morning and then threw it up about 10 min later. Not fun! Think I'll have to forgo that.
