I was reading a post in one of the groups and the topic starter mentioned that she was thinking about buying a compression suit after her surgery. Is this something I should be looking into? I always thought they were for plastic surgery/lipo suction patients. And ever since that post, all the ads on the right side of my screen seem to be about after surgery undergarments. smh

Anybody out there using compression suits after their VSG?

The compression garmets are for AFTER the weight loss. They are to keep you from jiggling in your clothes. The excess skin can be held firm in the compression garmets & you will look better in your clothes.

Iv been wearing one everyday for like 2 years I became so used to the tight feeling i couldnt leave the house with out it plus it makes you look smooth not full of rolls. Im hoping since i did so I may not get as much loose skin. My favorite one is by fleexes they sell at kohls. Its not tooooooo tight and a goood length . There is lace at the bottom but I always cover it .

My doc gave me one in the hospital. It's a waist binder. It really helps with the pain, and moving around better. It can be for any kind of tummy surgery. It helps keep my fat tummy jiggling and hurting the incisions. LOL

That's an awesome idea for after surgery, I never thought about it. I guess its the same as wearing a girdle after giving birth, minimizes all the jiggling and pain afterward.

I've been wearing compression shorts (like spandex bike shorts) since about 4 weeks post op. It gives a much smoother silhouette and I feel that skin is snapping make a little better (that could all be in my head though). I bought them from Walmart for like 8 bucks.

I also wear compression leggings (reebok) when I run to reduce trauma on the loose skin. I think that makes a big difference.

I plan to wear the "girdle" that I got after my c-section when I go back to work after 9 days. I know that it helps a LOT with the pain of getting up, bending, etc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
