I was told to take the B12 sublingual pill once a week. I took it for the first time today and it took about 10 full minutes for it to melt. Is that right? I also noticed that the directions on the bottle said daily but I was told once a week. What are others doing?

10 minutes sounds a little long but then again I never timed it and just sucked on it till it was gone. I started out with a daily tablet and when I had my blood panel the B12 was high - pretty harmless as B12 is Water soluble and simply flout with the urine, so the doc had me go every third day. I switched over to EmergenC drink, which also has B12 in it. I was having issues with kidney stones and needed the Vitamin C to keep my urine acidic and keep the stones at bay. I take the drink with twice the Water, 12 ozs as compared to 6 ozs so as not to hit my tiny stomach with that much concentrated acid.

When you have a blood panel done they should measure the level, till then just stick with what the doc says, after all the Vitamin people just want you to buy more stuff, the doc just wants you to get the proper amount.

I have found that B12 dissolves quickly or slowly according to the brand. I had one kind that took about a minute to completely disappear but my present one takes quite a long time--not ten minutes, but about five. I take mine 3x week--my NUT said every other day but it's just easier to remember M, W, F.

I took mine daily for the first 18 months post-op, and my labs stayed in the normal range until then. My B12 spiked super high normal at my 18 month follow up, and my surgeon had me drop down to 3-4 times per week. It's a Water soluble Vitamin so you're going to expel it in our urine, and since we can't absorb it properly unless it's sublingual or injectable, it's easier to get deficient than it is to over do it.

My levels dropped back down to normal range within 3 months when I had my first pregnancy panel pulled in March of this year (3 months after my 18 month surgical follow up). I've continued to take them 3-4 times a week, and my labs have remained normal for B12 through the pregnancy.

I use the one from Walmart, and they dissolve in about 2 minutes. I have noticed that if my mouth is dry, it takes longer to dissolve. I also don't ever swish it around my mouth, I just let it dissolve. The Celebrate ones that I had dissolved in about 1 minute, I just switched over because I was low and at WalMart one day.

I take mine 3x a week. Maybe you should call. They may have meant to write once a day and wrote once a week by mistake. Or at least call and have them give you a reason as to why they said only once a week if thats what they meant ya know.

If your Dr. said to take it 1x per week, then I think you should do that. Everyone is going to be different.

My last panel showed my B-12 is mid-high level which is excellent for me as I was diagnosed with B-12 anemia. I'd never even heard of sublingual until I started to look into being sleeved and finding out our stomachs don't process B-12 like a normal stomach does I needed to do more investigating. I think I should have been taking my B-12 sublingual the whole time.

Anyway seeing my results come i so excellent I decided to go 5X per week with my sublinguals. I take them on the mornings I do my workouts. It gives me an extra pep that I like just before.

I pretty much get mine anywhere I can find them on sale. Rite Aid brand tastes really good! It dissolved in about 10 minutes. Kind of on the slower side. I also found a great deal on the Members Mark brand from Sams Club. I'm going to be good for probably a year!! This one dissolves in about 5 minutes. Like Tiffy I also don't swish the pill around. I place it under my tongue and just let it dissolve until gone.

Good luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
