Ok ya'll. Who is getting sleeved this month? Lets keep a running list so we can all check on each other in September, and all the days closely following surgery. I'm sooo excited (and kinda scared) but my date is pretty far away. Who's close???

August 10th here. Weird but my doctor doesn't have any pre-op special diet to follow, other than trying to increase Protein and decrease carbs. Seems like a lot of people on here have to do a liquid diet pre-op or otherwise.

My Dr. doesn't require a pre-op either. I don't want any excuses to get there and not be able to go through with it. So i'm shrinking my liver and trying to change my habits before surgery. The Dr. and NUT has to know i'm serious about all of this.

I'm your August 2nd sleeve buddy - gosh, that's so soon. I didn't have any type of diet to do before hand other than the pre op liquid diet to shrink the liver, but I also wanted to lose as much as possible and to date am down 47lbs!! The no food thing is getting to me, so I hid in my room for a few hours today trying on clothes. OMG, most were tight, but they were starting to look good, even a few regular size shirts (not plus size) I am so motivated and ready right now. Stella ain't got nuthin on my groove. Uh huh!

My surgery date is Aug 24th! I'd do it tomorrow if I could! I'm MORE than ready! The only thing that concerns me is once I start to eat solid foods, being able to eat slowly enough and not drink with my food! I better start practicing now!!! Good luck everyone!!biggrin.gif

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
