Beginning of Weeks Three and Four - Pureed.

Recommended Posts

Hey!

Today was the first day of my third week in which I moved to pureed/blenderized foods. So this is what I ate:

2 oz. Protein Shake 14 grams

1/4 c. cottate cheese 7 grams

popsicle

1 Tablespoon Peanut Butter 3.5 grams

2 oz Protein shake 14 grams

1oz baked potato / 1 oz Greek Yoguft ~3/4

popsicle

2oz Protein Shake 14 grams

I guess my question is, isn't that a lot of food? It seems like all I've done today is eat or think about what I'm going to eat next. I wish I could eat more than 2 oz., but I'm afraid to. And I still didn't get quite all my protent in, about 56 grams.

My book says to eat four to six ounces at this stage!!! What did you do?

Between the food and the waiting an hour to drink Water, it seemed like all I did was plan food / Water intake over the first month. I settled into a routine of eating 6 times a day for the first 2-3 months. You should be able to eat about 1/4 cup or 2 ounces in the first several weeks. Mushies may get in a little more because they pass through the stomach better. Once you get to solid food, you will hit a wall after 1/4 cup.

Don't push yourself past 2 oz right now! It looks like you are doing great. Stay hydrated, eat your Protein, and you will find that your capacity will increase on its own after the 8th week or so. I am 4 months out and I would be lucky to get in more than 4 oz in one sitting. 1/2 a cup of solid Protein is really impossible.

Hang in there--

Solid advice from Rev Me Up!

You are doing fine and are normal. After being sleeved the relationship with food changes but yes, you still feel like life is all about food. Now it is watching what you eat. Other than being worried about eating too much (2 oz too much? HA HA) how are you doing? Is the scale moving in the right direction for you? Are you feeling well? Staying hydrated?

Thanks guys! I just wanted some reassurance I think. And yes I feel better already, I think. My joints aren't hurting! I weighed today for the first time since my first doctor's visit and the total is almost (19.6) 20 pounds in two weeks. I can't believe it!

I do have trouble getting the Water in between the carafate med and the time constraints, but I'm chipping away!

Thanks again!

P.S. I LOVE this site!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
