Hi All. I'm two weeks out from surgery and have switched from thin to thick liquids, not quite to mushy yet, although I have tried refried Beans. The problem I'm having now is I can't tell when I am satisfied. I know you will understand that before surgery, and for most of my life, I ate until full, not satisfied. Now I'm trying to determine when I get that 'satisfied' feeling. Perhaps I will notice more when I get to more solid foods but I was wondering what you all experienced.

Thanks for your help as always.

Bridget

It's not the "old" type of satisfied. I know that I've eaten enough, because I get a gurgling sensation and I hiccup. The hiccup tells me that one more bite will mean I will be uncomfortable. So, it's not the same feeling I had pre surgery, and I am still learning the signs.

I had this exact same question when I was early out. I never felt satisfied on liquids or mushies but now I feel full but not quiet satisfied on real foods. I think my head is still in full on eat mode sometimes but my stomach/chest feels tight and as if it were expanded. I don't ever throw up but I do wish I could turn my head off while I'm eating so that I wouldn't stuff myself.

Lately I have been eating slower and this has made a huge difference. I notice myself take a big breath or sigh and I know I am full...this works great as long as I'm not eating Mexican because I just ignore that sign all together . You'll get it figured out before too long.

When you head into semi solids or solid foods you will become familiar with what "satisfied" means. You WILL want to stop at satisfied, because likely you will reach "full" one or two times. Full has a whole new meaning now and it will beat you down until you get to your soft stop signals. Don't worry I'm sure majority of us have felt full once or twice. :) Chances are you will not want to feel Full again.

Yeah, once you transition to solid food, you will get full in a completely different way. You will get the warning signs that you have had enough (a gurgle or small bubble burp or hiccup - some people sneeze) and if you take another bite your stomach will feel like its going to burst. You will be uncomfortably full. Also, this sensation changed for me every few weeks while I was in the healing phase. You are better off strictly measuring 1/4 of food and only eating that until you get used to your new signals.

It wil definitely change when you are eating regular food.

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
