juzmejnee 9 Posted July 11, 2011 I was just wondering if you over eat, will you always feel nauseous? I'm on soft foods but think I'm eating too much. Today I had one egg and 1/4 cup of cottage cheese. But I have never been sick or threw up . I'm just wondering will I know when I've eaten too much?
kellyw74 258 Posted July 11, 2011 If you eat too much you will either be in serious pain or you WILL puke! You will not be able to hold more than what your sleeve will hold. Didn't your dr. or nut give you guidelines on how much to eat? Like 1/4 c on what stage??? I am 9 weeks out today and can only eat about 1/2 MAX and usually only eat 1/4c. if it is really dense Protein. I can eat a 1/2 of cottage cheese, but only 3/4 of a scrambled egg, 1/2 of that egg if it has cheese on it. I really undereat my sleeve at this point because I DO NOT want to be sick or feel awful!! iegal 460 Posted July 11, 2011 We all feel different and in time you will learn your full signals. At nine months out, I sneeze. Really. When full, I sneeze sometimes a lot. My DH laughs and it is now a joke. Now, early on I had no full signal so I had to measure everything. Nothing tasted good, all too sweet, thick or clumpy. About a two months my full signal was getting the slimies (thick drool) when full. I did overeat twice and threw up. My fault for not paying attention. Do you know what size bougie your surgeon used? That will tell you volume you should be able to eat. Or call your surgeon and ask if this is a normal amount of eating. Lastly, are you drinking and eating at same time? Rev Me Up! 75 Posted July 11, 2011 Early on, I just ate what I measured out for myself. Different foods will affect you differently. Until you know what will be "too much" I wouldn't push it. Right now, I get a full feeling that coincides with an air bubble that comes up (kind of like a tiny burp). I know I literally can eat one more bite or else I will be a very UNCOMFORTABLE. I have never thrown up, but I have had severl episodes of extreme discomfort. Measure your 1/4 cup of food and leave it at that until you are a little further out. Good luck! juzmejnee 9 Posted July 11, 2011 Thank you! But im never in any pain after i eat. Is that possible to eat more than and not feel sick? MINI-Me 196 Posted July 11, 2011 It's really hard to find a full signal until you are on "whole foods". Right now, you have a lot of liquids and sliders. For now, measure & follow your eating plan to the letter. Believe me, you will find that full signal once you start eating/chewing Proteins and such. For me, I apparently get a "look" on my face. My husband knows to tell me to stop before I do sometimes. Others have a hiccup or a sneeze ... You will definitely know when you have overeatten - you will want to throw up just to get that horribly uncomfortable feeling to go away. Think Thanksgiving feast with a plate past "full". samantha209 19 Posted July 11, 2011 Throwing up is very weird to me...I have done it 3 times since surgery. There are times I eat a lot (or what I think is a lot) and not thrown up and there are times i feel i eat less and i do. I think it has a lot to do with the density of the food eaten etc For example the 3 times i have thrown up 2 of those times i ate salmon and the third time i had chicken breast and brocolli where as if it is a soft food i can eat a lot more...hope this helps

Amanda131 214 Posted July 12, 2011 Juzmenjee- I also could eat the same amount around 5-6 weeks out. My doctor used a 34 bougie which is considered a normal size, but I am pretty tall. He seems to think that's why I eat a little more that the average sleever. I do not feel that my slightly bigger tummy has impeded any weightloss though. Good luck! Husky2Healthy 1 Posted July 12, 2011 I am almost 3 months out, and if you read my older posts, I totally went through the same thing. It was like I needed to feel the 'fullness' or tightness to prove it was actually working. I am just starting to feel that fullness, but I wish I would have just at what I weighed out instead. Remember, you had over half your stomach removed, nerves and all. Your body is kind of rewiring itself, it will take a while to re-understand your body correctly and to understand the signals. Instead, just weigh out your food, try to understand what your body is telling you: hunger, gas or acid. It takes a while, but then you will be closer to mastering reading what your body is telling you and how to fuel it. Best, Steven
