I warned Hubs that he would be on his own preparing meals for himself and the munchkin during the 1st two weeks. We went shopping and bought them a bunch of frozen ready-to-go meals since he's not that great of a cook.

At two weeks I could eat soft foods so I found it a lot easier to be around food in general. I took kitchen duty back and would eat a little of what they were having if it worked for my food requirements. If not, I made my own meals of eggs, etc. Since 6 weeks out I pretty much always eat some variation of what they're having, i.e. On spaghetti night I'll eat the meaty marinara but skip the Pasta.< /p>

Good luck!

Same here. Just started cooking again for all of us together (May 23 surgery). Quiche, baked fish, etc....trying to figure out stuff we can all eat together. Hubby has been eating healthier too ;) . He showed me the other day his pants are loose! We have a teenager and a 3 year old so I have to keep stuff for them to snack on but trying to veer to fruits etc (healthy stuff)

I didn't really cook anything for the first two weeks. My husband just ate whatever. He CAN cook, but chooses not to!!

After two weeks, I cooked for him, but ate what I was supposed to eat. It was killer when I would grill him a steak and I could not have it!!! Now, that I am 9 weeks out, I pretty much can have anything, but salad and raw veggies. I cook just about everyday and eat what he does meat wise. That is about all I can fit in maybe a bite of fruit OR veggie, but not much more than my 2.5 oz of meat!

My story is similar to everyone else - I didn't cook for a couple of weeks. I was exhausted after surgery.

Beyond that, I had no idea what food smells would be OK or which ones would make my stomach turn. I only cooked a couple of times a week for the first month or so. The family got by on pizza and frozen food. There were many times I would go in my room and close the door during dinner time because the smell just didn't sit right with me.

After that point, I cooked like normal, ensuring there was a good Protein portion for me. Overall, I started buying and cooking much healthier stuff because that is what I was eating. I would sometimes get so hungry while I was cooking that I would eat a few bites of cottage cheese or chicken and then I was too full to eat with the family!!!

I actually enjoy cooking, so I didn't mind cooking for my family - even though I might not eat what they were eating. I eat almost nothing so my desires for dinner are not as important. A bit of Protein and I am happy!

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
