12+ weeks out! How many Calories do you average per day?

Recommended Posts

Curious what your average caloric intake is at 3 + months out.

I feel like I'm eating a lot more calories than the average sleever. unsure.gif I average 800-1000 per day 20-40 grams of carbs 80-100grams of Protein...fats kind of a wild card. 30-60 grams per day...

Is this ok? I'm still losing on average 4lbs per week though it's slowed down some as my food intake has increased. (was 4.75 lbs per week at first) Having a stall every 3wks or so for 7-10days. I'm trying not to freak or get over worried.

I've lost 40lbs since surgery which also seems to be a bit on the slower side than average...sad.gif

You seem to be at pretty much the same numbers as me. I was sleeved on April 11th. I get about 800 calories a day, at least 70g of Protein daily, and no more than 30g of carbs a day. I have lost 41 pounds since surgery. I stall about every 3 weeks for a week or so. Sounds almost identical to you :) Don't freak out or worry because then I will feel like I need to freak out or worry!! lol

I'm pretty much a 800-1000 calorie a day gal and have been since about 9 weeks out. Probably once a week I even hit 1200. I think you're losing at an excellent rate! :)

i'm running 1000-1100 a day typically, with 100g Protein, but that seems to be working - I'm halfway to goal at two months and averaging around 4 lbs a week loss. YYMV,

I pretty much have the same intake as you. Lost huge in the beginning, now it's very slow, but it's coming off. :)

On days that I don't exercise, I try to stay at 800 calories or less. I'm not doing low-carb since my body functions better if I get complex carbs in but I do try to keep my daily intake to less than 75 grams.

During workouts, I wear a heart rate monitor that calculates how many calories I burned and on those days I try to eat a bit more. I have yet to eat all the calories I burn off because 1) I don't completely trust the numbers and 2) there's no way I can eat an additional 600 calories right now. If it weren't for Protein drinks, I'd never get in my required 60 grams/day.

I've lost 48lbs since having surgery 12 weeks ago which I am more than satisfied with, but I also have a fast metabolism. My PCP is a bariatric doc and has a special machine to calculate individual metabolism rates and every time I've been tested mine is above-average for my age/weight. A huge chunk of my loss came immediately after surgery and I seem to have settled into a rate of 2 to 3 /week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
