My body is saying REALLY???

Recommended Posts

I had my 5 week appointment yesterday and was cleared for all exercise. Today instead of walking I decided to try jogging. Now I haven't jogged in probably 5 years. Anyway, all I can say is take it slow when you start. It wasn't so much my legs that hurt but my hips were killing me shortly after I started. Those limbs haven't been moved that way in so long they were screaming at me. I'm going to take it easy and work my way up to a run now, but if you're starting out don't do what I did and push too hard too soon. This may sound like common sense but when you're excited to start something it's easy to forget!

HONEY my body is always saying REALLY?????? I haven't jogged in forever and don't think my body would even allow such a thing! hahahahaha. . . went horseback riding for the first time since I was 16 (I'm 50 now) on June 18th and let me tell you something. . . even though you "just sit there" the next day every muscle in my body was screaming out for help! It's amazing how "just sitting" there can take it out of you! hehehe. . . i've been back since and it didn't hurt as much this time. . . will continue to go til the old body stops being so whimpy. . . hehehehe

Ha ha! Funny people think riding a horse is just sitting there but it takes every muscle in your body if you are doing it right!! Can not wait to get back on my horse! ;)

Speaking of just sitting there, I used my riding lawnmower for the first time yesterday (old and far from a zero turn type) and I gotta say, owwie! My abs are tender, and my biceps are killing me! Apparently lawnmowers don't have power steering, lol!

LOL I know huh? it's not like your a sack of potatoes slung over the saddle, you actually have to do something in order to stay on that creature! It's a lot of muscle work! and your definately right, if your riding correctly, you'll definately feel the burn! But I love it and am so happy i can do it now! Keep working your sleeve and you'll be out there in no time flat! Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
