Questions you might have about WLS

Recommended Posts

Hi,

It is my pleasure to be able to help. I want people that you too can be successful. I had a million questions myself and asked soooooooooooooo many questions. I feel that we know ourselves better than anyone else. And being 61 is fabulous. You are going to love this journey. Sometimes the people that you think that will support you might not. They be scared for you and not know everything that needs to be learned. It isn't time to educate them. After that they see you are becoming healthy and losting weight and getting off a lot of your medication then they might be willing to listen to you and how successful your weight loss is going to be.

You will make lifestyle changes and NOT be on a diet. It is pretty easy to maintain. I wish you great success and please feel free to always come back and ask me any questions that you want. I am always here for you.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Thank you soooo much and I will take a "rain check" on those questions.....

Hi,

To all of you who have responded, I am please that my experience and knowledge may be able to help you. That is my goal. I still remember all the questions and feelings I had almost 3 years ago. It is my goal to be able to pay it forward. Maybe some of you will be able to do the same thing along your journey. There are so many people who are sitting out there and reading all these posts. They are scared to even post, and the are trying to consume as much information as they can by reading everything we write. It is always great to be able to talk with someone who has been down the road ahead of you. It takes a LOT of courage to have Weight Loss Surgery. Be proud of your choice, you are going to become healthy, happy and your body is going to thank you too.

Just remember I am always an E-mail away. There are NO bad questions to ask. The bad one is the one you are too scared or embarrassed to ask. Just ask away.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Hi,

Thanks, I am so glad that this is going to be helpful to you. If you have any questions along the way, I am always here. If you get scared or have all kinds of feelings I am here too. I know how you must be feeling. I had an amazing experience with my doctor, so ask away.

Hugs,

Suzanne

This is a great list. I've reposted most of it on another board (with credit given to you of course) to share this great list with other to-be sleevers! Congratulations on your fanastic loss and maintenance!

Hi,

I have NO problem at all with you reposting this. I want people to share this information. Some people have asked why haven't I just written a book yet. I guess because I want to make it more personal and just talk with people. Everyone always feels like NO one else has ever had issues or problems so they don't know who to ask. These boards are great places to get support. I am always just an E-mail away if you have any more questions. I am working on another list of things that I will put out in the next few weeks.

You are doing a great job. Hugs, Suzanne

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
