When did you get cleared for raw veggies? Did they hurt going down?

Okay, that seems reasonable! My nut said 3 months. I hit six weeks next week. I hate going against my nut but I'm finding this rule difficult.

I am not allowed raw veggies until after 12 weeks, but NEVER celery again.

So after August 1st. However, I am scared to do them. I have read how sick they make some and that worries me. I do love salad tho!! I guess my first try will be at home on the weekend!! LOL

I'm with Kaiser Fremont. Most people (including me), advance to Stage 4 at 6 weeks, which includes basically all foods. I was advanced last Thursday and so far have enjoyed raw bell peppers, lettuce, and carrots. I've also had corn on cob. Yum! I am so full after eating my Protein that I haven't had room for much else, so it's been 1/8-14 cup max on the veggies.

Kaiser seems to advance faster than many Dr.s programs. Clears last less than 48 hours, Full liquids (which includes greek yogurt, cottage cheese and cream soups) lasts till two weeks post-surgery, and soft foods (soft fruits, cooked veggies, all soft Proteins except beef) lasts till six weeks after surgery.

Ours said to wait til 3 months out. With the exception of tomatoes and cucumbers I did wait till I was told to.

Okay, see that is the thing. I just want some peeled cucumbers. And I'd never eat celery anyway... hmmm I am tempted to try the cucumbers and see how it goes.

Three weeks out I was having basic salad makings - spinach, Tomato, carrot, pepper, onion, avo - with some leftover meats with no problems. We all have some variation in when we can tolerate things, and our program encourages experimentation - if something doesn't work, try it again in a couple weeks - from their experience that patients tend to do better with real food.< /p>
