I had my post op appt today and was happy that I've lost a total of 24 pounds. I lost 15 of those pounds since surgery and the others I lost on pre op diet. Today I can have real food which is really exciting . I ate some refried Beans watered down with broth (the dreaded broth). I melted some cheese and used a little taco sauce. That might have been a bit too adventurous but I did it. I ate it without any problems but it didn't seem that filling to me. Plus I don't like the 16 grams of carbs so I think I'm not going to eat it again. Plus the taco sauce is good but has 2 carbs per tablespoon and that could get out of control. It was super tasty though for having not had food in practically 20 days! But I'm throwing it out b/c I could foresee it causing me problems as I do love mexican food. Later I made 2 eggs in the microwave. Sat down and ate 5 bites and very suddenly a super full feeling came over me and I felt nauseous. I even spit out the bite I had in my mouth. I think the egg was more filling and I will stick to high Protein low carb from here on out.

I get the same feeling from eggs, which I loved before the surgery. For that reason, I've been limiting my intake of eggs to one instead of two (or more before!). I've found that I really like the feeling I get when I eat Greek Yogurt so that has become my go-to food of choice. As far as mexican food, I still love it but I've changed what I eat, especially since I keep a log of everythng that goes into my mouth. I'm finding out just how much the tortillas count in the carbs and calories portion so I'm leaving that behind and just going after the Proteins and eliminating the fats from all cheese just about. Good luck.

Yay on your postop loss! Sounds like you are doing great! Btw I couldn't eat eggs until about 3 months out. Just the thought of one made me nauseated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
