Hey... I'm fine. Still around. Not much to say when you're not losing, eh? I'm pretty stuck. (up and down a couple pounds for months) At least it's nice to know I can do what I'm doing and not gain! If only I could make it to my goal, AND THEN have that issue! It's all my fault, I'm sure. I had that tiny defill, which made a huge difference (in getting rid of nightime reflux) so I'm hesitant to get another fill.... cause I don't want it to come back.

I'm leaving to go home for a visit next Sat, and I think when I get back, Dan and I are SERIOUSLY gonna get down and dirty watchin' the food intake, and exercising! UGG!

I'm also considering buying a Body Bugg, which I've seen others on the board talking about, and I'm very intriqued about being able to track how much calories I burn. It just became available to Canadians yesterday, apparently.... soooo... maybe I'll make another investment. You guys can wait til I get mine and see how I do with it. hehe :)

So yeah. 170lbs. Wearing size 12 or 14 pants... my biggest I keep around are 26's. Shirts are a M or L (mens) when they used to be 2XL's. (i'm gauging this by work-logo-ed tshirts I've bought since working here) I have a hard time with shirts. Hopefully will be easier as it cools down, cause why are ALL women's short sleeve shirts SO damn short sleeved?! I want my short sleeves to come down to just above my elbows, not midway between my armpits and elbow! I have gruesome stretchmarks that are blindingly glimmery, and I'd like to cover them. I don't know how that's ever going to change, but maybe if I had a little less dangly skin on my arms, the glimmer wouldn't bother me as much. (and I've discovered once again that self tanners just make stretch marks look worse... wonder if 'natural tans' do?) I hoped I'd never have that 'nothing to wear in the summer' problem again, and I guess it's not AS bad this year as last... but still. I won't wear shorts... I have a couple capris that I haven't gotten the guts to wear yet, but maybe still will. I'm not nearly as sweaty anymore as I used to be during summer, so that's a definite plus.

I don't know what I'm going to do about work. Dan wants to leave here. He hates what he's doing, feels like he's getting screwed all the time, and wasting his time/talent here. *I* on the other hand, am just stupidly grateful to have a job. I'm in the 'I don't know what else I could possibly do/who would hire me, if I left this job' thinking. I'm making well-above minimum wage, and if I were to leave and didn't have a GOOD paying job lined up elsewhere, I couldn't live working minimum wage. I feel like I'm so poor now, I don't know how people can live on minimum wage. (well... it would make a big difference to not have just student loan payments eating 1/3 of my take-home pay). Dan thinks he's got a good chance at a job in Vancouver. I'm going to apply at a few places there. One good thing is that we'd have a place to live as long as we needed it (cheap, if not free), if we did move there. I dunno what's gonna happen. :phanvan

Just saw Ratatouille tonight for the 2nd time. It's fantastic! You don't have to be a kid, or an animator to like it... it's a nice story, go! Enjoy!

Hi there!

Nice to see your posts again -=big smiles=- I just wanted to reply about tanning and stretch marks. I know many are against tanning whether it is natural or done in a tanning bed, buttttttt as one who does use the tanning beds and also has the dreaded stretch marks from weight gain and pregnancy I can tell you that it really makes a difference in the appearance of them. Mine are not nearly as noticable when I have tanned.

I don't want to cause a debate on the right and wrongs of tanning, but it really helps me.

Hi Argon: Forget Vancouver if you want a place to live cheep cheep. The rents and real estate have taken off and doesn't look much like things are going to eas off. We are one of the most expensive cities to live in but I here Calgary is catching up with us.

Interesting reading your comments. I am finding it most frustrating to loose weight this time. I start the month at 265 and by months end I am 268. Net month I will start the month at 268 and be 265. Been this way for two months and getting pretty ticked off. Any ideas anyone.

No no, I KNOW Vancouver's not cheap! That's why I need a GOOD job to go there.... much better than what I've got now.

Leslie, I was using one of those lotions that you apply daily, and it slowly builds some colour. If I noticed the extra stretch mark glimmer with just that, so I'm not sure that a 'real' tan, whether by bed or sunlight would look better! MAYBE I'll try a spray tan (like from a can) to test it out. I actually like being as pale as I am, though. Ahhh...

Lots of good jobs begging for someone. Microsoft is going to open an office here. On the news last night, a spokesman stated how all jobs from blue collar workers, to white collar, executives, are in demand. What are you interested in? You are Dr. C's patient so shouldn't have problems with fills. All you have to do is decide if you want to leave that beautiful province. Doddie

Just wanted to say hi to you guys! I'm here in SK for the week, and Dan is in Calgary. Just got in last night.... it was a loooong flight, and I'm glad it's over. I went to costco with my mom today, and she bought me a camel-coloured cashmere/wool pea-coat type jacket.... it's nice. In WOMENS sizes, and NOT plus size, it's a large. WOooo! Not even an extra large. I was gonna get a medium, because it'll prob. be a while til it's cool enough to wear something like that, but she talked me out of it. Oh well.

I weighed in yesterday morning, a pre-vacation weigh-in, I guess....so I can gauge if I do too much damage, and guess what! A number I've never seen! 167.8! Wooo!

Anyways, I hope you're all doing good.... especially all you newbies :o

Take care,

Mandi

Have a great holiday Argon.Good for you on your weight loss. It feels good buying clothes in a normal store and not in Penningtons.

Hi Mandi,

Great to see you doing so well and on vacation too! It's great getting into new clothes isn't it. Now my biggest challenge is chosing what style I want to wear (now isn't that something!) My daughter is even losing too - we've made wiser food choices as a family and they're all feeling much better. The band was the best journey I could have gone on.

Just wanted to update:

Got home this morning.... long flight, but I slept most of it! I was feelin' saucy, so I hopped on the scale this evening. 163.8 :car::eek::car:

And in the middle of the day, even! (I always weight first thing in the morning, cause its always better then!) No ticker changing though... I shall wait for wednesday!

I'm glad to be back... BUT... Air Canada lost my freakin' suitcase! I really hope they'll find it and send it over soon! There's not too much insurance when they lose your bag, is there? I was wondering if my tenant insurance or Visa card comes with any kind of protection for such things. Man... I'd hate to lose all that stuff.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
