Thank you gals :)

I'm posting here, not because I want anyone necessarily feel like they need to keep up with me... just because it's like my little diary. I have saved copies of this thread (cause you can, i discovered in the 'thread tools' at the top) just in case I some how lose it!!

I forgot to mention that I saw 300 on friday night. It was NUTS, but awesomely cool! Saturday we did a little shopping in Moncton. Went to the mall, passed a GAP, and I said, "I gotta do it." I went in, grabbed some size 14's AND some 12's and hit the dressing room. The 14's looked really good, and the 12's DEFinitely didn't fit! YET! I woulda taken a picture with the camera on my cellphone if it hadn't been dead! Too bad those things are so expensive! I bought a pair at Old Navy instead.

Mandi, when you hit the 12's you definetly have to spend the bucks!!!! I know I would. Think about how much you have saved on food. Great NSV!

Just remembered something that's causing me some trouble, and maybe someone can suggest something:

I emailed a lady/friend/boss at work, who's the accounting whiz there. I told her about some issues I'm having with my completed income tax stuff. Nothing major.. they just gave me my "Notice of Assesment" and changed my return FOR me, using my education amounts, when I hadn't included my education amounts, because I had other good deductions, and without them I would get the same refund. I figured I'd save 'em for next year. So I asked about it, and if they can do that, and why CAN'T I carry it forward.

She replied and asked if she could have a look at my T1. This is bad, because does not know about my surgery, and is one of the people who've bugged me about 'what i'm doing". I don't want her to know. But I don't know how to say I don't want her to see my income tax stuff. I couldn't make the excuse and say I don't want her to know how much I make or something, cause... she's the one who pays me, she knows that stuff! What kind of medical expense (or any kind) could someone have that they actually had to pay for, that they wouldn't want to tell people??!

She easily forgets about stuff, and it probably would just pass if I didn't mention it, and maybe eventually told her I found out myself. (although I really would like her help, cause the last thing I want to do is call Revenue Canada!) But it might not, and I need some help figuring out what to say!

What do you think!?

Do you actually have to show her the info with what you had? Can you not just take her something that says medical expense $15,000. And if she asks, which she shouldn't, but if she does just say it's personal. I'm not exactly sure about the forms your referring to but can you just write or say 'Medical Expenses' and leave it at that.

I think a T1 is your complete income tax 'package'... and it IS complete and done (can't change it), where I have $15,000, beside it it says 'lapband surgery' as well as the costs of some fill trips!

Can you take black marker and cross out 'lapband'? The worse that could happen is the gov calls you to confirm what kinda surgery it was. Then for fills, maybe right in check-up??? I dunno, I'm grasping for ya!!

There are anwers to your questions on the CRA website. I would go there first to look up carrying forward education expenses. It may be that they are not able to be carried over, but some other type of expenses that you have can (i.e. medical can be carried over 1 year). I would not want to show my return to a busy body at work!

If she is a really nice woman maybe you should take your taxes to her and tell her the whole truth about the miracle of the lapband as well. Ask her to keep it absolutely to herself, of course.

Mandi I see your problem. I would for sure check the website first. Now if you really want this persons help I would maybe print another income tax form from the CRA website and fill it in like your last one but without the lap bad just have MEDICAL and leave her guessing. Seems like a lot of work I guess, but then again I go to crazy lengths to keep my stuff private. :paranoid

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
