Thanks for the advice, guys. I just told Dan what he's gotta say to the other guy, and he said he'd take care of it. I'll let ya know how that goes over!

Thanks Maria,

Nooo... I didn't post it. But I was down another 3 lbs this week. Total for Sept. was 13.6lbs. :omg:

I think I will be able to make my Xmas goal... I've got 17.8 (or 18.8 if I want to be 199) to go...and about 12 weeks before I would be leaving to Saskatchewan. Probably doable. About a pound and a half a week is what I would have to do to make it. EEK!

But... I don't even know if I'll be able to go home for Xmas anymore. The plane ticket(s) will cost me probably $1000, and if I am gonna buy it, it needs to be SOON! Then I've got my computer problems... and I'm ready to scrap my old PC, hope that the computer place will buy the parts, and get a new one. I neeeed a new one, cause I'd like to be able to do some work at home. I haven't told my parents that I don't think I can do it... I'm sure they'll say "We can buy your ticket", but I don't want them to. They've done more than enough for me, and I'd feel bad. Ugg... so I don't know what I'll do. Dan's in the same boat as me too. :think BOOooooOOooo!

I knooooow... it's so crazy. I was excited at 40 lbs, cause it was unchartered territory.

Honestly, I've got problems. I don't notice anything at all... I think I look the same. My clothes (some) are bigger, and I feel little things like bones in my arms, less neck waddle (and back of the neck fat)...but I don't see anything different. I really gotta go through my pictures and make some before and afters to compare. I was in the bathroom yesterday and held up my ID photo to my face, and looked in the mirror. It was the worst picture anyways... but I guess I look thinner now.

I've lived far away from home for many years and I remeber those days. I now live far enough but close enough to drive !! I hope everything works out for you!

Seat sales pop up each day!

Hey Mandi, you should post the pic's on here, I'd love to see some before and afters...aaaawwww c'mon!!!!

Now, about the plane tickets. I can tell you that from a mother's perspective, if you cannot buy the tickets and she offers you should let her. It is admirable that you wouldnt want to take them, and I'm sure she know's that about you, which is why she would offer. If she offers, let her. I would always want to see my kids at Christmas, and be more than happy to pay to make it happen. Life's too short, you never know what's in store around the corner, GO!!!! Okay, thats my lecture for today, I'll shut up now.  :)

Hey Mandi....I'm not a mom but I agree with Cloe. It is important that you go home for Xmas now while you can. Life has a way of getting away from you and soon enough you won't be able to go home for Xmas for other reasons (ie. not related to financial)....other obligations will creep up.

So....yeah....if you can't afford it and they can and they offer....take it....it's important to them.

As for the issue of you "not noticing" ya....tis called body morphic disorder (or somethin' like that!!) (maybe it is dismorphic)!! You get my meaning!

So many posts! I think I have to quit my job just to keep up with all the action here!

So yeah, I have been watching for seat sales... but I'm thinking if I wait and wait, I'm going to miss out on how 'cheap' it is right now, and end up paying way more. That always happens to me... and I don't know, do you think tickets would get cheaper at Xmas? I'm going (or want to) from the 22nd to the 29th or 30th.

And yeah.. I know they're going to offer, and I MIGHT accept, BUT.. my other dilema is: what about Dan? I'm 99% sure that his parents can't help him out with a ticket. I can't leave him here by himself for Christmas!

Mandi Maybe you thought of this but just in case you didn't. What about driving to the next major airport and flying from there? I 've even driven to the states and flown alot cheaper from there. Hope this helps.

And put dan in a hockey bag cargo is always cheaper!!!LOL Only I think I am funny by the way.

Lila has a good point Mandi. Where were you pricing it from? Fredericton? What if you flew from Montreal? (or Halifax?). And....don't fly on a Fri/Sat/Sun cause airfare is generally more expensive then. Naaah, flight will definitely be more expensive over Xmas.

Also....you may want to think about calling a travel agent (some Sears stores have 'em and they are usually good to deal with) CAA is also a good choice if you are a member there. If not..think about joining..... You can call them or drop in and see them and tell them you are looking for THE cheapest way home and what can they do for you? They have more resources at their disposal and are also sometimes aware in advance of upcoming sales......I find that I usually get a better deal this way....as I know for SURE that they've checked all avenues.

As for the other dilemma...yeah, I can understand you don't want to leave Dan "alone" at Xmas and plus you want to also BE with him at Xmas. But....if you get your ticket paid for....perhaps the two of you can pool your money together (not sure how you handle your finances now....ie...together or apart)....and perhaps afford to purchase one ticket (ie. for him)?

Good luck though....but don't give up.

How about asking your family for cash gifts or airmiles for christmas! Then you won't have packages to bring back. Oh airmiles not work at christmas but may help with a discounted flight.

Just throwing ideas out there. Really hope I'm helping.

What about a different angle? Let your employer know that you need to upgrade your PC at home and that it would be beneficial to them to provide you with one. It could be a loan as long as you work for them. They probably have great deals. Some employers offer payment plans through payroll deduction.

You have to get home, to go to the bar, to see your ex. (you know the a..hole), to show him what he will be missing the rest of his life!! and yes, to see your family.

Good ideas guys, thanks very much. I'll have to figure something out.

I was counting on the 24 million 6/49 on Saturday, but I guess someone in ONTARIO (and Quebec) won again!!!

And yeah, Wheezy..... I'd forgotten about the ex! If nothing else, at least if I miss out on rubbin' his face in it this time, I'll be lookin' even BETTER by my next chance to go home! HA!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
