calcium citrate.. other options?

Recommended Posts

I started off with the liquid calcium citrate from Vitamin world.. and it was just nasty, couldnt even swallow it. I then found the Bariatric Advantage Calcium citrate chews and got them in caramel they are good!! However.. they are only 250 of calc each so i need to have 4 a day and each one is 5 grams of carbs and 20 calories. So I need some other options......... what is everyone else taking?? THanks!! :)

Off the shelf cal-cit tablets. I don't seem to have any issue swallowing, or should I say stomaching them.

Celebrate makes a chewable that I use that offers 500mg of citrate in one chewable, along with Vit D and magnesium. Yep, they're a little chalky, but they dissolve quickly, taste good, don't get clumped up in my teeth, and I only have to take 2 per day. So, a little chalkiness is well worth taking just 2 per day instead of 5-6 2 hours apart.

calcium citrate Plus 500mg are the ones I order. I also use their Multi complete with Iron which are chewable as well so I get all my Vitamins in with just 4 chewables per day. Way better than 6-8 for my little life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
