I AM APPROVED FOR VSG!!! I posted last week about how my insurance company had initially denied me, stating I did not complete the 6 months of supervised diet (which I did). Well it went back for re-review, and was approved this morning! I am so relieved and excited and anxious...this is really happening! I spoke with the insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office, and she said someone should call me today or tomorrow to schedule surgery!

I cannot wait to join you all on the other side!

That's awesome! Congrats! I am so happy for you, and I have to say that is such a relief to hear from a fellow 6MPSWL pre-op!

Congratulations! I am glad it all worked out for you. You must be so excited. All that work for 6 months...and they denied the first time.. ARGGG but now all is well! I am still waiting approval. Spoke to the insurance person at my docs office today and she said she talked to Aetna but they wouldn't tell her anything more than she told me. She said she would try to get in contact with the nurse that was looking at my case and try to see if they would tell her where they were with it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
