KellyL 173 Posted July 5, 2011 We all go thru this, it's completely normal!! Don't let yourself talk you out of a better, healthier life!! Make a pros/cons list. That helped me a lot. Something brought you to this place in this time to even consider wls. Keep reminding yourself why. We're here for you!!
Bryn Dawson 9 Posted July 5, 2011 Every single one of you rock my socks. I'd be up sh*t creek if it wasn't for you folks. All the support makes me kind of sniffly, in a good way. Thank you all so much. You have helped immensely.
Qpdsful 2 Posted July 5, 2011 Bryn, I just finished my lovely drink to cleanse before my 8:30 am arrival and 10:30 am surgery tomorrow and I am freaking out..What if is so there...I smiled when I read your post as I am right there with you. I picked up my meds at the pharmacy and I am mentally prepared for the post op, and the get up and go after surgery but my mind has gone to that dark place that I think is totally normal. Thank you for sharing all your questions and your feelings I really needed that!! Carrie
Sarah E. S. 6 Posted July 6, 2011 You know I don't even have my date yet, I haven't actually even seen my surgeon yet ( Appointment is on the 15th) And I already have those what if's. But you know what other what if's I have? What if I don't get this surgery, and I die of heart disease What if I don't get the surgery, and by the time I actually die I'm so heavy, I can't have a regular funeral? What is I don't get the surgery, and for the rest of my life I hate myself for backing out of the once chance I had to REALLY help myself. What if my kids grow up unhealthy because they see how unhealthy Mom is? Your what if's are so valid! I know it's scary! This is a major surgery, even if it's just " Laproscopic" It's a real major surgery. Your Fears are valid. I understand them. But what is also real is that either way you go, whether you get the surgery or not, you are risking something. I think you should risk the surgery, and come out healthier on the other side. There are all sorts of medications for nausea! And as long as you follow the diet your Doctor gives you, you WILL lose the weight. It's a matter of following simple instructions now, and you can do it! Be courageous Bryn, take this bull by the horns and CONQUER it! You are going to be in the Loser's club soon! Soon after that you will be in ONEDERLAND!!! you can do it! I'm so proud of you! If you'd like me to be your personal cheer leader, just PM me, I will be that for you, because above all else, I beleive that this is the right decision for people like us, who have tried so many things and just need help! *Hugs and comfort!* ~Sarah~
NJMOMof2 17 Posted July 6, 2011 My therapist told me to do this: Visualize all the things you will be able to do that your weight has prevented you! Mine were: 1--walking by a mirror and feeling comfortable 2--walking into the regular section of a store and picking clothes out 3--bike riding and not getting out of breath 4--walking into a room and feeling confident. Positive words pack a lot of power!!!! Good Luck
