sarsar 824 Posted July 4, 2011 I was told to start walking right away. I have also been doing a lot of stretching but did notice that I had to be careful with that so I didn't pull my stomach muscles too much. I am cleared to start my regular exercise routine tomorrow, I will be 6 weeks out. I have an appointment with my personal trainer for tomorrow and I am very excited. Of course, I will be taking it slow and listening to what my body tells me. If it's too much I will slow down.
kellyw74 258 Posted July 4, 2011 I walked from day one home from the hospital. Futher and further everyday. I was not allowed to lift over 10lbs for the first 4 weeks and NO ab work. When I went for my first check-up at 6 weeks out, I was cleared to do whatever I wanted. Kelly
lifechanges 3 Posted July 6, 2011 I was told to start exercising as soon as possible. To be honest with you I certainly did not have the energy or will power at first but did eventually get into a routine. I was not allowed to do any weight training until about 6 weeks out. The trainer suggested to start out with what you can at first but try to do something everyday. Each day / week try to do more than the day / week before with eventually building up to 60 minutes plus every day. Good luck to you and happy exercising! kemo46 82 Posted July 7, 2011 Ask your surgeon, all have different rules. I was to start walking immediately and increase my distance. I was told not to lift anything or any other exercise for 6 weeks. I just started my exercise this week.
