dlflightgirl 2 Posted July 3, 2011 I went shopping today with my wonderful husband. We hit Lane Bryant first since I needed some bras. Nothing fit right. All the clothes were too big. What a pain in the ass. We hit the mall and spent 6 hours shopping. I finally found some bras at VS (haven't been able to shop there for so long). Had to take 2 of everything into the fitting rooms to figure out what size to get. I'm everything from a 16 - 20 in normal clothes. Everything I tried on in Womens was just too big. My tops are between a L and XL. I was able to buy clothes at the Limited, Lord and Taylors and Talbotts and everything was 40-60 percent off. Woo Hoo,. My bank account is empty but my closet is full. I love this sleeve.
myrori 55 Posted July 3, 2011 Congrats! I hear ya having to take 2 or 3 of everything to the dressing room, I thought shopping would be fun but it tedious trying to figure out the new sizes! However it is such a reward when you get to look in the mirror!
lonnielou2 2 Posted July 3, 2011 I can't wait to say goodbye to LB! I have my surgery coming soon at UCLA:)
KathyM 14 Posted July 4, 2011 Woohoo!! Isn't it a great feeling????? At first shopping was such a pain in the butt. I was so used to not even looking in stores because there was so little that would fit me. I pretty much just shopped at Lane Bryant. Then when I could shop in ANY store I was so overwhelmed! I kept expecting someone to come up to me and tell me that there was nothing in there that would fit me and I should probably go to another store lol (My Pretty Woman moment) - it never happened. Now I have to be careful or I will have to get a second job to pay for all my new clothes!!!
M2G 1,836 Posted July 5, 2011 Yep I said goodbye to Plus Size clothing a few months ago and just LOVE not ever having to step back into Woman's World, Lane Bryant, Dress Barn PLUS, CJBanks or any other PLUS size clothing store ever again! It feels amazing!!! Now if I could only figure out how to get off of all the PLUS SIZE mailing lists, I would be a happy woman!
PhatGurl80 26 Posted July 8, 2011 My surgery is coming up in August, but i've still resolved that I will still be able to buy clothes from Lane Bryant. Afterall, the smallest size they have is 12 and I just can't see myself fitting into less than that! Plus I have a LB credit card lol

FishingNurse 1,211 Posted July 10, 2011 Congrats, I can't wait to go to VS for bras! :-) Lane Bryant is waaaayyyy to expensive, I can't wait to never go there again. Keep up the good work girl!
klus263 9 Posted July 10, 2011 Now if I could only figure out how to get off of all the PLUS SIZE mailing lists, I would be a happy woman! You should be able to go to their website and ask to be removed from their mailing ist. Or call their toll free number and request it. I did that with a few that I used to get. I love that I can shop normal stores. I am hitting basically a thrift store right now when I need something as I don't wont to spend a lot of money yet on clothes that may not lost long in fitting. Plus some of my thrift stores discounts the color tag of 30% or 50%. Since I work from home I don't have to have alot of dress clothes at this time.
mnbsleeve 87 Posted July 10, 2011 I'm not out of plus sizes yet however, I just had my FIRST run of everything in my closet being too big!!!!! I'm so happy ... and freaked out too. I have nothing to wear! LOL I have to go to a week long conference next week and I am scrambling. In fact, it's interesting I spotted this thread since I have to run to the mall to find somthing. :-) CONGRATULATIOS dlfightgirl on your wonderful success!!!!! dlflightgirl 2 Posted July 11, 2011 Thank you everyone. I was just so happy I had to share. So many choices now. The amount of clothes I have now is not much but it's all things I love to wear.
Adri 40 Posted July 11, 2011 hey mnbsleeve, i think you and i are at about the same stage in this (see ticker). The other day I bought a size 18 jeans... at a discount store...for $13! I have been as big as a 26 so this was awesome to me. I think by Christmas I will definitely be out of the plus sizes...I can't wait. Congrats to you all who have already said farewell to LB and the like!!
Rev Me Up! 75 Posted July 11, 2011 Be careful buying too many clothes!!! You will be buying smaller ones in 6 weeks! I made the mistake of spending a little too much money on my first set of smaller clothes and only wore them for a month or so and had to give them away. Now I only buy 2 pairs of cheap trousers for work, 7 nice t-shirts in various colors to wear with the trousers, a skort/skirt, and a pair of jeans and that's it. I try to spend as little as possible because I know they won't last. It's a cool problem to have :-) My biggest frustration is with clothes sizing and bra shopping is the WORST!!!!! Victoria's Secret doesn't work for me, but I have had great luck at Kohl's. I buy the Vanity Fair bras on Friday nights (power hour!) and I usually get away at about $18 per bra. It is tedious to have to try every single thing on, but I am loving the progress. Yay for you!! PS - I eventually had to report Lane Bryant as spam because I unsubscribed from their list 4 times and still got the emails.
