Any CT Sleevers in this Forum? If so, who is your surgeon? I live in CT and hoping to get sleeved. I am deciding between two different surgeons/hospital. Dr. Valin or Dr. Bell. Looking for advice.

Will be sleeved in August, by Dr. Papasavas in Glastonbury. I've heard nothing but good about him.

I have Dr. Neil Floch in Norwalk/Stamford. Had surgery 6/27 and absolutely no problems! I am sooooooo happy!

besides the usual - # of sleeve surgeries, complication rate, bougie size, hospital infection stats etc i'd ask about pre-op and post op diets the diff. surgeons require.....you know yourself and how well you will be able to adhere. I needed some flexibility on the pre-op as I gag on most if not all liquid diet shakes. grosses me out. Dr. Floch said try, if you can't then do 1000 cal. low carb diet. I loved that he understood and trusted me enough to do what worked best for me. I did try to do at least 1 opt-fast meal a day but love veggies and chicken breast and was happy with that ;)

i had -0- issues with any pre-op testing/scheduling, they did a great job with the insurance approval process. And we did things at my pace, I wasn't rushed, OR more importantly made to go so slow that I wanted to scream (I've read stories here that make me go WOW!).

Best of luck on your research and ultimately your surgery! Do what I did - hope for the best but prepare for the complications......know that you could have swelling issues/nausea that might slow down your recovery but have a plan for what you need to get through that time ready to go....it will give you peace of mind as your surgery date approaches :)

I didn't see this thread until now. I was sleeved in May by Dr Ehrlich. He used to be in practice with Dr. Floch. Had a wonderful experience with him thus far.

Wow that is close! Is this your first surgery? How did u find him and did u ask how many vsg he'd done? How many times do u meet before he sets a date? I'm concerned why they are doing pre op testing before we even eyeball each other...heck, I'm terrified

MidState is a great hospital - I am not far from there. My consultation went well. The power outages have messed up my appointments for this week but he said we could do it as early as December or January. I'm aiming for January. I don't know exactly how many sleeves he has done but he averages 3 to 4 a week right now and he has been performing the surgery for 8 years. I just have a really good feeling about him - he took time to explain everything and answer all of my questions. I can't wait!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
