crosswind 134 Posted July 2, 2011 Ok i am new, and i am 9DAYS post op. Just today i ahve gotten a bad taste in my mouth when i breath out.. Its only when i breath out, not in. i dont think its my taste buds either. Does any one know what this is>? it's getting hot out there. check your fluids. Something like that has happened to me a couple times and usually it fixed itself when I started drinking more plain Water.
RVAGirl 2 Posted July 2, 2011 I get it to and my surgeon said it's most likely due to acid reflux. I'm on Prilosec but I still get it time to time. It sucks =/
KathyM 14 Posted July 2, 2011 Get used to it, lol you will have it for a few weeks until you are eating food again. Almost everyone does. I can remember by the time I got to actual foods with texture to help clean off my tongue and teeth my tongue felt like it was wearing an angora sweater most of the time. Brushing your teeth often and chewing gum can help some, but it will get better. There is some controversy about gum because it freaks people out if they swallow it and they worry about it getting stuck in their new tiny tummy. The answer to that is...don't swallow it. RebaC 0 Posted July 2, 2011 Most likely is that you are in ketosis. That gives you a fruity breath. Mine also tastes bad. As for the tongue, you can brush it when you brush your teeth and you can get a tongue scraper to try to remove the coating. Drinking a lot of Water does help temporarily, but ketosis is burning your own stored fat and it does change your body chemistry somewhat. It will get better in time. You can see if a pharmacy near you sells Spry (xylitol) mints. They help keep your mouth moist and are sugar free.< img src="http://cdn.verticalsleevetalk.com/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
Mick78 1 Posted July 3, 2011 bad horrible breath that is probably due to ketosis. Just my opinion.
