Toniawf 1 Posted July 1, 2011 My sister can not have the surgery because her insurance does not pay for it but she would like to go on the liquid diet with me. How long can someone go on the diet without becoming sick? What kind of things do you eat on the liquid diet? Has anyone every done this diet, besides just before having surgery? Does anyone have a substitute solution for a Protein Shake? I hate the gritty taste.
mythreechildren2001 7 Posted July 2, 2011 Have her check out newlifestylediet.com The shakes taste great! I did that once upon a time, but I wasn't able to keep it up. They have a couple of options...either full liquids, or two shakes a day and then a 'lean and green' meal. Their shakes really taste good.
tmela28 2 Posted July 4, 2011 I suggest when you start your liquid diet and your doctor will make you go on a shake called Optifast, maybe ask If she can go on that with you I lost 15lbs on those and I thought chocolate and vanilla were great strawberry not so much reminded me of meds but i know people who only liked strawberry . I tend to not like super sweet things. There not cheap but maybe since you will get a larger supply they will arrange a deal or something to help you out. But she should do like every other day like one day only drinks and another day drinks and then allow a lean Protein like plain chicken w some partially steemed brocolli and a sugar free calorie free dressing on the side for dipping , for dinner that seems the most realistic unless she is really able to cut out alll foods. Remember your cutting out alll foods cuz you have surgery coming up but since she will not the Protein here and there will be okay and maybe allow her to maintain it better!!!! Thats just my opinion.
