I feel that for the past few days, I have been eating a lot more than I have since being sleeved on 5/9 (7 1/2 weeks ago).

Maybe I am just being paranoid because in comparison to what I USED to eat, this is NOTHING!! However, I am afraid that if I eat too much, I will continue to not lose (haven't for about a week) and that is not the plan! I have been tracking my calories on myfitnesspal.com and I am getting between 500-700 daily.

My plan DOESN'T call for calorie, carb or Protein counting!! I am just supposed to eat a certain amount 3 times a day. BUT, when I do that, I only get like 300 calories a day because I can only eat so much at a time. I exercise an hour a day and that is more calories burned than I eat! I will never lose starving my body like that!! I had to switch it up to see how things would go!! DONT TELL MY DR!!

Here is what I had today and yesterday. Do you think it is too much or am I doing anything wrong? I pretty much eat about the same everyday with the exception of Snacks. Sometimes I have a Protein Drink or bar.

Today:

B- 2 hard boiled eggs (just the whites) ate almost all but maybe 2 bites of last half

S- 1/2 small banana

L- 3/4 carmalized chicken & onion burger from costco

S- 2 hard boiled eggs (just the whites)

D- 2 oz cheeseburger & 3 sweet potatoe fries

After work I also had 4 Doritios Toasted Corn chips with a little salsa.

Total calories=600 Carbs=22 Protein=64

Yesterday:

B-2 1/2 Foster Farms Turkey Meatballs

S-1/2 container lite yogurt and 1/2 small banana

L-2 oz beef chuck steak & 4 tbsp. mashed potatoes & 3 green Beans

S-1 oz beef Jerky

D-1.5 oz beef chuck steak & 1 c lite chocolate soy milk

Total calories=660 Carbs=59 Protein=66

Any advice on what I could do differently or if you think I am o.k. or whatever. I appreciate it!

Thanks,

Kelly :D

How much Water are you drinking? You should try and take in at least 80 ounces a day. Try reducing the sodium, increasing your Protein to at least 70 grams and reduce the carbs. Instead of the real eggs, try swapping for Egg Beaters. You can increase your Protein by adding one Protein shake a day or by swapping your meats. I eat a lot of Solid White Albacore tuna (Starkist has a 3oz. can that has 22 grams of protein), ground lean turkey, and shredded chicken breast.

Your body could also be losing fat but gaining muscle which will appear as if you aren't losing weight.

My surgeon and nutritionist agree that 75% of each meal should be Protein. Daily intake of Protein should be around 80 grams. I agree that you need to get enough Water ease up on the carbs. Personally my mid-morning and mid-afternoon Snacks are all protein. Either I have a cheddar cheese stick, some cottage cheese, or a protein shake.

It takes a while for you to figure it all out, not to mention a while for your body to adjust and heal. Keeping track of your food and Water intake can really help you pinpoint where any changes need to made.

Also, don't rule out the fact that stalls happen, no matter how good you are. lol

Hang in there you'll get it.

I would cut down on the salty stuff and any white flour and starchy stuff. You might just be in a stall and it will pass when it feels like it, believe me I know!! LOL still waiting for mine to pass, but I think I'm about to kick that sucker to the curb :)

Thanks for your replies.

I think that maybe I was eating too little and I was "starving". I was getting only about 300-400 calories a day up to about 3-4 days ago. Now, I am trying to eat more by snacking (not supposed to)!!

However, I am eating 600-700 now! I weighed this a.m. and lost 2 lbs. I think I just need to eat more. I am going to try that for a few weeks and see where it takes me.

I will take the advice into play as well.

thanks again!

Kelly ;)

Girl isn't it a mystery? I wish there was just a certain routine- and if you follow it- voila- the weight falls off. No such luck!

One thing though- you have lost almost 80% of your excess weight! Though you lost much of it pre-surgery you are bound to slow down as you get closer to goal.

Just do the principles as you know them and trust you will lose, even if a bit more slowly than you hoped- you are 30 odd pounds away from goal! I would love to be there!

I just had a non losing week and the like you lost 2- go figure! Who knows why!

I do think you should eat more, especially since you exercise every day.

IMeanwhile PM me your address so I can do a Mapquest for you for next Saturday!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
