The incredible edible egg

Recommended Posts

Scrambled, with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese. Yum. It took me about a half hour to finish it…something was telling me that eating faster would have made me uncomfortable.

Afterward I felt full, at least what I think is my new full. It’s a very different feeling that the full I used to feel after eating 2 or 3 eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes, juice, etc. This is more of a gentle, satisfied feeling.

Relieved that I still like eggs, after reading several posts over the months where people mentioned they don't like them after surgery.

Interesting, learning to eat this way. Hardest part I find, is not drinking during a meal.

I remember my first egg being incredibly satisfying. You are doing things the right way, eating slow and listening to your body to know when to stop. Glad you enjoyed your meal!

I had the scrambled egg and cheese for my first soft food item and it didn't settle well. Now I'm eating a boiled egg white and it settles pretty well on my stomach.

I can't usually tell when I'm full. The feeling is so different than the old feeling of full that I feel compelled to keep eating. I take 30-45 minutes to eat a meal. Usually that consists of a cup of greek yogurt, or a packet of cream of wheat. I'm hoping that when I ear foods that are more solid, the full feeling will be more obvious. Right now, I just stop eating when i decide that I should probably be done. It's kind of frustrating for me. I'm worried that I'm doomed to overeat even though my stomach is smaller.

Jackie, I think you're right about the more solid food. For me it was an egg that made me feel full-ish for the first time...I never got even close to that feeling eating yogurt and cream of wheat. Hopefully you will have the same experience when you advance your diet. Best of luck :)

I had egg/cheese today and after 3 small bites I started feeling weird and was afraid to finish it so I stopped. I'll try next week and see.

The wonderful egg was my very first solid food of choice. It went down wonderfully and the solid Protein immediately made me feel fantastic. I have been addicted ever since. I still eat eggs for Breakfast nearly 3-4 days per week, with some egg beaters mixed in to cut down the cholesterol.

Anywhow, I've loved eggs from day one of mushy solids. Not everyone hates eggs after surgery!!

I have the same experience with eggs as described by others. I really like them but they do fill me up quickly and I have to eat slowly because they do seem to catch up with me. It has gotten better now the second week on mushies. For me the feeling of fullness really lasts for hours. I have to remind myself to eat or have a Protein Shake. It use to happen pre-surgery as well although I ate eggbeaters rather than eggs. I don't know if it's the egg per se or the pure Protein that causes that feeling. I'd decribe it more like an appetitie suppresant! :-)

When you are able to eat solid Protein, it will stay in your stomach longer, be more satisfying and make you feel full faster than "SOFT CALORIES". That is why soft calories are so discouraged after you are able to eat solid food. They run thru you quickly and don't offer much satisfaction.

My fist few eggs sat very heavy in my chest and I did not enjoy them AT ALL!! I now love scrambled and poached eggs!! I also like boiled egg whites with hummus in the middle! YUMM

Good luck!

Kelly

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
