cutie pie 71 Posted July 1, 2011 i'm scheduled for the 29th just checking to see if there would be anyone there same time as me ...
peppercma 12 Posted July 1, 2011 I may, or may not, be there. I'm already scheduled with Dr Kelly for the 29th, but with everything going on about the death I'm nervous. Ga Girl has me thinking of switching Dr's (she switched to Aceves from Kelly, her date is the 29th). Dr Aceves is one of my second choices, Dr Alvarez is the other. I'm just really confused right now, do I stay with Kelly or switch to Aceves or Alvarez? UUGGHH!

eliza 0 Posted July 12, 2011 Hi, I am new to this board but need to comment on your search. I will be traveling on the 29 for surgery on the 30 with Dr. Aceves. Nina, my patient coordinator mentioned that the doctor does up to 3 surgeries a day. Hopefully, we could encounter this experience together. I am a little worried and refuse to have any of my family there. I would much rather them help me with my 3 toddlers back home. I hear nothing but good from Dr. Aceves and his staff. I am confident and putting all my trust on his hands. My mom had her surgery covered by the insurance in march and she is a different and beautiful woman. I am happy to have encouraged her procedure.Unfortunately, my insurance does not cover thus, I'm traveling to Mexico. I am from a Hispanic decent so I fluently speak Spanish. I hope our journey is a memorable one!

I hope our journey is a memorable one! Hi, you are doing the right thing. You are also going to the very best hospital that you could have gone too. Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos are top of the line skilled doctors who are going to take fabulous care of you along with their entire nuring staff. My insurance did not pay for it and that is why I started to look for a doctor in Mexico. I also went by myself and felt very safe and was glad that I was there alone. I had heard good things about Dr. Aceves and his hospital. I had a friend who had gone to Dr.Aceves and she was a nurse and I trusted her judgment. She made me do my own research and I kept seeing his name and then found out just how many WLS he had done and how his patients were so please and happy with him and the hospital. So I had my sleeve surgery done in Oct 2008. You will never have one regret. I am now glad that my insurance wouldn't pay for WLS because I would have never found this GREAT doctor. You will say the same after having your surgery. Stay in touch. Hugs, Suzanne
eliza 0 Posted July 15, 2011 Suzanne, Thank you for the encouraging words. Even though I am confident on my choice, I do feel some anxiety. This forum and your words of advice gives me strength. On a lighter note, all I keep relating to Mexico is its beautiful beaches so my goal is to go back with hubby and a bikini!

Hi Eliza, And you will be in that bikini one of these days. I know about the anxiety. I had it, and I want you to know it is really normal to have ALL the motions and feeling that you are having. Any time you need me just send me an E-mail. I always check them many times during the day. It is the unknown that scares us the most. I promise you that you will feel a whole lot better once you see ever thing. They hospital is the cleanest place I have ever seen. They are cleaning it 24 - 7. Everyone that works at the hospital is so very helpful and nice. They will LOVE you because you can speak their language. Most of them speak English too. CCinINdiana 9 Posted July 15, 2011 Hello, I am down with Dr. Aceves right this minute and I can truthfully say he is terrific. I just found out yesterday that he is friends with Dr, Allen the surgeon that did my partner's surgery 2 years ago in Kentucky. They've gone to lots of conferences together in the US. Also Dr. Aceves presents papers and does demonstrations in the US. This hospital is everything everyone has described. It is spotless, everyone is friendly. Haven't found a night nurse that speaks fluent english, but between the list of spanish phrases and humor it hasn't been a problem. I can't imagine being discharged on day 2 to a recovery house. I have needed amost round the clock medicine for nausea and I don't know how all that is handled in a recovery house. My vote if for Dr, Aceves. Dr, Campos his assistant is a doll and Sergio who was a nurse in the er is wonderful too, Cathi

Being in a hospital is soooooooooooooooo important to me too. I would never consider a recovery house. They don't have everything that a hospital has. Serigo is fantastic. And you are right the night nurses manage to figure out what you want and need. Enjoy your stay and have a safe trip home. Dr. Campos is great too--he had sleeve surgery too.
