When do you stop worrying and start living?

Recommended Posts

I am not a worry wort, but I just feel like the sleeve is quite consuming in terms of always thinking about eating, drinking, Vitamins, leaks, pain, will I lose the weight, when can I work out, etc, etc, etc. When does it all just click and you start living? I just feel like I am on egg shells. Then on top of everything worrying about...When is the hair going to fall out and will it be really bad. I know it takes time, but how long.

I'm at 12 weeks and haven't lost any hair. I just pack in the Protein and Water and try to remember vitamins! I only worry when I eat out with friends and want to eat more than I can and then I just wait and hope I don't get sick. I don't worry. It's done. Once my bp became steady---and perfect!--I began to feel like myself and started really walking. That was at about 6 weeks. I haven't had a single problem. good luck to you!

Considering that when I was fat I thought about what I was going to eat and drink ALL THE TIME I feel that I devote less time now. I freeze single-serving portions of fish, seafood, or meat and pull one or two out in the morning and that's lunch and dinner. I keep a Water bottle in the car and next to my desk and just sip whenever. I take my Vitamins with Breakfast, my Calcium with lunch, dinner, and before bed. It's all just routine now, and I suppose I got it down to a routine about 3 months out. I am losing hair but no one has noticed but me.

Please don't worry about these things--start living your life! If you follow your plan, you will lose weight. Gym time--well, it's hard to make time in the beginning, but once you start to feel better, and it's a little easier to move your smaller body, just pick something you think you'd like to do and go for it. I am a runner and I feel great when I'm running, but I tried those dance revolution things and I cannot do them. It's just a matter of finding something you like. I am 5 1/2 months out from surgery and feel normal again, and have felt like that since about month 3 when the routine kind of established itself.

..yes to what Foxbins said. .. it gets more normal as time goes on. For me it was about 3 months too, Im at about 5 1/2 months and things are pretty much the same as before surgery, but I eat less and exercise a little bit more. I started losing hair at 3 months and hope it stops soon, but no one but me has noticed. (besides my husband finding hair all over the house!...and my drains and brush...) Its all so worth it.

I think I will do the Vitamins for breakfast and the calcium for the lunch and dinner. I couldn't quite get a schedule. I NEVER miss my PREVACID so I just have to take them right after I take that. Now it is just meals and liquids to get together.

;) It just becomes a routine and you do it. Like brushing your teeth, you just do it!

I started my vites, Calcium, Iron and b-12 a month before surgery, so I was used to taking them afterwards. I have been taking a PPI for 7 years, so I also am use to taking that when I get up.

As for the Water, that is my hardest feat. I find it really difficult to get it all in. I drink and drink and still can't get in the 64oz. and I am 7 1/2 weeks out. I know it will get easier, but it is really hard!! I feel like I drink all damn day! I never had that issue before. I think not drinking before, during and after is the issue! I use to drink 3 glasses of tea with dinner! Not any more!

I started losing hair at about 3 weeks out. Now, I lose lots everytime I wash and brush! It is GROSS!! But, I consider it my trophy! LOL

It will become habit all of these things and you will just do it! You will do fine!!

It was around month #4 which I started to feel "comfy" with my new lifestyle and I was able to not constantly think about my sleeve. I rarely think about it anymore, unless I'm reminded by someone commenting on me being "skinny" or whatever. ;) Those are good reminders!!

In time you won't need to chew chew chew, or take tiny bites, or take itty bitty sips... I drink and eat pretty normally now. I'm almost 10 months out and I've been like this since about 6 months out. Hang in there! I remember feeling exactly like you're feeling right now, like it will be for the rest of my life. However, it hasn't been. So, just know in time you will be responding to others posts just like this one and assuring them they have all good things to come. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
