I keep reading here... Oh I fit into a size 2 or a size 6. Have sizes changed since I was skinny? WWAAYY back when I weighed 110 lbs I was in a size 10. Granted I was never one that had a very flat stomach. I was always more rounded ... round hips and at least a D cup... The thought of fitting into a size 6 makes me giggle with delight (even though it is probably the old 10)

I have no idea about this. Back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, I wore a size 6. But I haven't been out of size 20+ since.... well, since the dinosaurs roamed the earth. I'll let you know my experience with new sizing when I get there! ;-)

Yeah, it's called Vanity sizing! There's a thread around here somewhere discussing this. I just can't imagine being in single digit sizes!!

I know that I kept a pair of 20s from when I was on my way up, and years & years & years later when I was back down into a 16 or 18, those 20s wouldn't even come up over my thighs. Actually I was wearing a 14 in one brand, and those 20s still wouldn't come past my thighs. Those 20s are probably today's equivalent of a 16, I'd bet.

They must be different...A few years ago I was 115 lbs and I wore a size 3-4. At about 145 lbs I wore a size 9-10. I can't wait to see these sizes again! Atleast the 9-10 anyway! I don't really want to be a 3 again--I looked anorexic!

Vanity sizing, also known as size inflation is used to refer to the phenomenon of ready-to-wear clothing of the same nominal size becoming larger over time. Vanity sizing tends to occur in places where clothing sizes are not standardized, such as the United States, although within the United States it occurs far more frequently in women's apparel than in men's, partly due the widespread and far earlier adoption of standardized measurement for men's apparel for military uniforms (where, for example, a pair of trousers with a 32" waist and a 32" inseam must be labeled as such regardless of who made it).

I wish they would do this with Women's clothes too. It would make life *much* easier.

Back in the Late 80's I was a size 3. I'm thinking that's probably a 0 today or less. Yes, sizes are all over the map depending on who makes them. It's kind of annoying to be honest. I've never been to Old Navy but I've heard they are the worst when it comes to this. Dr. Oz showed their size 12's being way outrageous big. Like a 38" waist or something...

Hmmm. When did this change I wonder? When I was 145 lbs. in the mid 90's I wore size 10. I've been going up ever since so I'm not in 24. I will have to go pull out some of those old jeans when I get back down and see how different they are.

Yeah, it is way different. I'm curiosu to see what size I'll be when I'm at a normal weight. When I was lighter, I wore a 10 at about 145-150lbs and looked good in a bikini. (athletic build) Now, I see many of you wearing 6's at that weight, even a size 4. There was no size 0 that I remember either...or maybe I just didnt notice because I was never close to that size.

For what its worth in the early 90s I was a size 12. Now, weighing the same and fitting those clothes again I'm a size a 8 at The Gap. Even when I was 18 and 128lb I was NOT a size 8 but that was 18 years ago now.

I wore a size 8 skirt for like 3 days when I was 17 ... I wieghed 126 for probably 2 of those day ... And slowly went back up (I had lost 96 pounds my Junior year of high school) ... I graduated in 1987 ~135 pounds and a size 10.

Today, I bounce between 125 and 128. I mostly wear a 4, but depending on cut and manufacturer, sometimes a 6 or Junior's 7. It may be vanity sizing, but I must admit it feels pretty good to put on a size 4.

I LOVE MY SLEEVE!

I totally agree!! If they standardize clothing (which I would LOVE) I hope they use the sizes in which I am smallest in. ;)

YUP SURE HAVE! VANITY SIZES FOR SURE! I'm a size 6 which is really a size 10 when I was this weight/height 20 years ago. It's hilarious!

I guess measurements have changed as well. I'm a size 28 waist which also comes up as a size 6.

So when I was a size 18W I was REALLY a 22W SAY WHAT????? They knew I just wouldn't buy that size LOL.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
