Hey Hansi,

Don't worry about the head hunger too much. After your surgery today you won't want a bite of anything. I'm struggling to sip on Water, garorade and tried to have some broth. You won't want to eat anyting for a while! Someone could walk in here and hand me a double bacon cheesburger and I wouldn't touch it. Once you feel nausea after the surgery you won't ever want that to come back.

I completely agree! I made it back home today but wish I had stayed one more night for the extra pain meds. I am not at an unbearable pain but would have liked to have a little more time for relief. I hope you are doing great and feeling better!!! I am finding it a little hard to get my liquids down right now. I am sure it will get easier. Let me know if you need anything.

Hansi

surgery scheduled for July 30th

CutiePie, I hope you do great. I will have to say this was a whole lot easier that I ever thought it would be. I am recovering nicely but still having a little pain. If I had a choice I would have stayed one more night in the hospital but I am doing great here at home. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. If you want to talk my number is 678-274-7280

Hugs,

Hansi

No problem. I just feel bad that I can't edit the original post anymore and add people to the list :-/ I thought about maybe starting a new thread? But there's already so much discussion on this one.

I can't believe I'm having surgery in 9 days! That is nuts to me! I have to go on Thursday to an all-day pre-op class about Vitamins and whatnot. lol. I'm so ready for this!

9 days! REALLY!!! WOW...that is going to go so fast! I have a feeling this month is going to go really fast! I'll be cheering you and everyone before me until my day at the end of the month. I'm so excited for everyone and I feel like we will all be good friends in a few months. I love the support we all have for each other. None of the bickering that I've found on other post boards about silly things. I'm counting down with you MLD!!! :)

AutumnBlueCarmen, thanks for the welcome. It seems to me, the folks that have their surgeries within days seem to follow each other on this forum. I look forward to following you,Phardin, and Xplorurself, as we will all be starting this new journey on the same day. Best wishes to all the rest of the July Firecrackers too! I think this bulletin board is such a valuable tool for all of us. I am lucky enough to have two co-workers and a sister-in-law who are being sleeved soon. One in July and the other two in October. I will get them tuned into verticalsleevetalk soon!

Hey everyone!! I got an e-mail back from the support team and they used to have it set where a post could only be edited for 7 days, that is why I couldn't make changes to the list anymore. But they changed it to 30 days so we are back up and running :)

Thank you so much for doing this! it really helps to see who all is right there with us!

Decided to copy the June sleevers! Someone mentioned that we should have a master list of everyone who was sleeved in July just like the June sleevers. I will gladly take this on :) Please let me know if you need to be added to the list, removed from the list, or if your date is wrong. I will update as often as possible. I just gathered dates from posts in the July forum

This should make it easier to follow up with each other, compare progress, complain together, Celebrate together... all that good stuff :) For some reason, it would not let me update the original post to add any more people? It's very strange, so here is an updated list of all our July Firecrackers. Wooooohooooo!!! smile.gif Please let me know if I need to add anyone or change any dates.

Hard to believe over 30 of us have already had surgery this month. I hope each and every one is recovering nicely and getting back to life as normal. I am 4 days out and doing great! I am so thankful for the decision I have made and am not having hardly any discomfort at all. I am thankful for the friends I am making and the ones that have helped me along the way.

For those of you who are still waiting... You will do GREAT!!! Congratulations to all of you to come. Cant wait to hear how you have done.

Hansi

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
