July Master List

Nina, I love that song. It's one of my favorites. Good luck Tuesday.

I know this is going to be so cheezy but I was listening to the Katy Perry song and watching the video and the song fits us! There is a girl in there that doesn't want to go swimming because she is too chubby and finally she says screw it and jumps in! So I decided to post this song because it reminded me of my journey ;) I wanted to say thank you to all the people all this forum who are supportive and wonderful.

My surgery date was July 22. I am so glad I found this board. I wish I had found it pre-op, it has been so good to read that somebody else is feeling just like me.

My date is the 26th too! One more day and then it will be here. I am third in. Not sure if that is good or bad. Only allowed to have ice chips the first day. But then maybe I won't want anything else. I just remember from previous surgeries that I was thirsty the first day.

I thought they would never get to me. I was told to be at the hospital at 11am for 12:30 surgery. I guess there were a couple of emergencies and I didn't go to surgery until after 6. My poor wife was a mess and broke down and told me she didn't want me to have it done. Then the nurse told her it took about an hour and I was in the OR for three hours. How she kept it together through that wait I don't know. All is good now and it is just a minor bump in the highway to a new and better life.

My turn has finally arrived. I am up way to early due to my gallbladder giving me one last shot before it is removed. I am just as excited about that as I am meeting my new sleeve.

Just as a side note, I have decided to name my sleeve, Ana Ana Sleeviston! I don't know why, I just like knowing I can talk to Ana and tell her to be nice to me and to help me attain my goal.

Soon I will be joining all those who came before me on the other side, and we will all be sleeve sisters together.

Good luck to everyone else who is being sleeved today along side me. I will be thinking of you and praying your recovery is a smooth one.

Sheila

So..... nobody gets sleeved tomorrow?? Look out on the 29th though, there's a bunch of us on that day:

peppercma

daviso

AutumnBlueCarmen

phardin

carolina girl

xplorurself

I hope everyone is ready. I know I am! I have tried not to dwell on it too much, but I haven't slept for a couple of nights now. This is so typical of me, I get stressed and instead of falling over from exhaustion, I can't seem to close my eyes!

Blessings to all of my sleeve sisters and brother!

Home today and feeling a little rough but that is to be expected. Had 2 scares. Told the nurse in recovery that I was having trouble breathing. She called the anthesiologist over and said "This lady just had gastric bypass surgery and she can't breathe.' Panic! Wasn't able to control my mouth and said " Oh &%$* no I just didn't." She looked at me funny for a moment and said... oh right... u just had the sleeve. Just turned out to be gas moving up toward my chest. Next scare... Night of the surgery they did a blood glucose and it was 191. YIKES! I told the lady that sounded awful high. She said well u must be diabetic... is it usually lower? Turns out they were giving me glucose in my IV. And yes I did get 3 units of insulin. Other than that things went well.

After surgery I couldn't breathe either and my blood pressure was through the roof and almost had to have oxygen sent home with me. Now I am at home recoporating. Sending hugs your way

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
