Nervous and hopeful

Recommended Posts

Hi, went to the seminar at Northwest Weight Loss surgery tonight and if I had any doubts they are gone, but have to admit I am nervous about making the big decision to have this done. Just waiting for final word on home refi and then away I go. I'm Dennis, from Port Orchard. Just want to say hello. The people at NWWL were so nice, and the banded folks who got up really were nice to share there stories. So, hello and hope it will be soon :nervous

Hi Dennis congratulations on your life changing decision.

Indecision and jitters are a common occurrence when going into banding. I personally felt that way for a week or two after banding. But I knew that I had to do something and this just made sense. I am early still in my journey. Six weeks postop now. But I am so glad I have done this. Not only has it helped me but it has inspired my family to seek better health.

Let us know when you have a surgery date and how everything goes.

Myra

Howdy! Yep, it's a very big decision. I watched DH(He was banded by Dr. Montgomery from NWWLS 2 years ago) before I decided I was ready. And I still have some doubts, because I know my experience may not be like his. I did finally realize that I knew where my life was headed if I didn't do anything.

I agree, the people at NWWLS are wonderful. I like the after-care they've done with DH, and how they are always there to answer questions.

Thanks for the replies. I got an email from the bank and she is still waiting to here something. I was thinking today about the freakout period. That time when you go "what have I done?!" I did that when I quit drinking and drugging years ago, sure glad I did though

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
