I know it's been a while since I've posted, but life has been incredibly crazy. I just returned from Guatemala 2 days ago, and am rearing to get back out into the world.

Does anyone happen to know of companies who will employ you via the internet? I am not talking about get rich quick schemes, or anything like that. I'm talking about legitimate companies who have you work for them, and will allow you to travel the world while under their employ.

I am willing to be trained, will work long hard hours, and am willing to reach for goals. While I do not have a college degree, I do have experience in sales and marketing, customer service training/experience, newspaper experience, music composition-reading/vocals, very limited billing training, web site construction, some HTML, and we are willing to relocate to be closer to the company initially.

I am only asking here because I know that hundreds, if not thousands of people come here each and every day, and I am serious about wanting this. I need to do better for my family, and if it means any amount of sacrifice, then I'll do it.

After serving over in Guatemala, I cannot happily go back to the way that life was before, settling for what has been put in front of me. Nothing in life will ever change if I don't make it change, so it's time to get it done.

Thank you to anyone who can give me any amount of help at all. I appreciate it greatly.

What you're describing is a telecommuter position. The bad news is that very few places are willing to train someone to a telecommuting position, as there are usually a LOT of trained & seasoned people willing to telecommute. The good news is that some of the skills you list are ones that fit well with telecomuter positions.

I can work from home in my position, which means I can also work remotely. For example, DH has to go to a training in a few months that's in San Francisco. Since he'll be in training all day, I'm going to go with him, and work from the hotel during the day. This means vacation at night, with no charge against my PTO. Woot! However, if you're talking about moving to another country (you mention Guatemala, don't know if you're wanting to move there or...) you will have a harder time, since most business here, esp. the ones willing to take on telecommuters, still have to operate within the convenience hours between the coasts. (My company does have a few who live abroad, and a small focus of telecommuters in Central America, but very few, and only at local wages).

Anyway, here's a list of companies that are known to be telecommuter-friendly: http://www.2work-at-home.com/telecommute.shtml

God blessed me with this exact type of gift 8 years ago when I desperately needed something better in my life. My company took me, trained me and has paid me to travel the country since day one and how I'm still here, I often wonder. My job is pretty specialized, however, and I would have never gotten it without my prior hospital Materials experience and availability to travel 95%, ie, no small children, pets, etc at home. It's just my opinion, but because of my lack of formal education and marketable skills, this was a one in a million, divine providence happening. Companies just have too much competition with degreed professionals for this to happen too often. I certainly wish you luck!!

Thank you very much for the link Wheetsin. We don't neccessarily want to move to Guatemala, we just want to get out of this town and broaden our horizons. Even if we live here in the US, I can live with that. An overseas job would be ideal, but I'm open for any change at this point.

I am going to check that link out right away.

I also appreciate your help as well Leatha. Any advice and help is well appreciated at this point.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
