Ruby Band 0 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi, everyone. I am being banded on Monday and my kids will have schedules to keep later in the week. I am wondering how long it usually takes to feel comfortable doing short errands. Thanks, Mary (Ruby Band)
Mvpo8961 1 Posted July 7, 2006 My doc told me most of his patients start driving in 3 - 5 days. Myra
socalgal3 4 Posted July 7, 2006 Personally, I drove home the day after surgery and I have a stick shift! I was fine.
Ruby Band 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Thanks so much! This will be my first surgery and I really didn't know. Mary

beachgirl 2 Posted July 7, 2006 Good luck Mary, I'm being done on Monday as well in Mexico. I wish you an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery. Hugs, Sherri
mousecrazy 2 Posted July 7, 2006 I was driving about 4 days after surgery. Probably could have in 3, but why push it? Remember, each person is different, so judge for yourself.
sleepyjean 0 Posted July 7, 2006 I didn't drive home after the surgery, but I did go out later to get my pain meds and didn't have a problem. Yes, I was in pain, but it was no different than driving with a stomachache or a headache.
Ceparano 0 Posted July 7, 2006 My doctor didn't allow me to drive for 2 weeks. I must admit I could have driven after a week but my seat belt would have killed me rubbing my incisions. I wish you the best with your surgery. You'll do just fine. Roberta
princess_n_thep 2 Posted July 8, 2006 I "could" and did drive about 3 days after surgery. But I wasn't really "comfortable" driving until about 7 days. Short trips were okay (grocery store, pharmacy, school, etc) but driving out and about for the heck of it was out of the question until about 10 days after surgery. waterlily1072 5 Posted July 8, 2006 You are safe to drive as soon as you are out from under the influence of the anesthesia and pain meds. Everything else is just comfort.
