You will do fine. You have researched the surgery and know what to expect. It is completely normal to have these feelings since it is a "major" surgery. Good luck. :)

Hey sweetie

I felt exactly the same way and now 6 weeks out I would do it all again in a heart beat! I'm down 35lb and I feel so much better. Today in London we have had temp of 35 degrees and normally I would have melted in the heat but today I was fine!

Stay strong and remember why you are doing this. You have an amazing an exciting future ahead of you and in a few weeks you will be so glad that you have chosen to take control of your life for you!

Sending blessings and well wishes your way!

Let us know how you are after x x x

I will be on the operating table here in Houston around the same time as you - I have to be at the hospital at 7:30 for a 9:30 surgery. I am excited and nervous AND STARVED!!! I have been on a lquid diet since Tuesday and it is killing me :o I will send prayers your way up until they put the happy juice in my IV - then no telling what I will say

My surgery is tomorrow too! I am so nervous. I'm downloading a bunch of Kindle books for the 3 day hospital stay...trying to keep my mind off it.

Good luck!

When I was sleeved in April, it was my first surgery too. I kept telling myself that even though it was MY first surgery, my Doctor and his team have done hundreds. It was all very routine to THEM. Also, statistics show you are more likely to die in a car crash driving to the hospital than during the sleeve surgery! Hope you are doing great.

I got my very first surgery in April of this year and I was absolutely terrified as well.

Here is the best news: you won't remember a thing and it will feel like an instant. The anesthesiologist came in and said he was giving me some 'happy juice' to help me relax and they would so the rest once I was in the OR. I had been so nervous that I crashed out before they even wheeled me out of the prep room!! I remember him telling me about the happy juice, then suddenly they were waking me up and asking me about my pain level. I kept asking when they were going to get started because I figured for sure they couldn't have done the procedure yet.

So don't fret, they know what they are doing and to you it will feel like an instant. Then you will suddenly be on the road to recovery!

I've only been put under once in my life, but it happens really fast - you'll have an IV and then you'll wake up and be like, what happened? I'll pray for you to overcome the fear. You will be just fine!! ;)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
