Nancy Rivers 24 Posted June 27, 2011 You will do fine. You have researched the surgery and know what to expect. It is completely normal to have these feelings since it is a "major" surgery. Good luck.
fairyfaye 9 Posted June 27, 2011 Hey sweetie I felt exactly the same way and now 6 weeks out I would do it all again in a heart beat! I'm down 35lb and I feel so much better. Today in London we have had temp of 35 degrees and normally I would have melted in the heat but today I was fine! Stay strong and remember why you are doing this. You have an amazing an exciting future ahead of you and in a few weeks you will be so glad that you have chosen to take control of your life for you! Sending blessings and well wishes your way! Let us know how you are after x x x

Marie from Michigan 11 Posted June 28, 2011 When I was sleeved in April, it was my first surgery too. I kept telling myself that even though it was MY first surgery, my Doctor and his team have done hundreds. It was all very routine to THEM. Also, statistics show you are more likely to die in a car crash driving to the hospital than during the sleeve surgery! Hope you are doing great.
kellyw74 258 Posted June 28, 2011 Good luck! I will save a spot for you on the loser's bench! Kelly
TheButterfly145 9 Posted June 28, 2011 I got my very first surgery in April of this year and I was absolutely terrified as well. Here is the best news: you won't remember a thing and it will feel like an instant. The anesthesiologist came in and said he was giving me some 'happy juice' to help me relax and they would so the rest once I was in the OR. I had been so nervous that I crashed out before they even wheeled me out of the prep room!! I remember him telling me about the happy juice, then suddenly they were waking me up and asking me about my pain level. I kept asking when they were going to get started because I figured for sure they couldn't have done the procedure yet. So don't fret, they know what they are doing and to you it will feel like an instant. Then you will suddenly be on the road to recovery!
LisaM 3 Posted June 28, 2011 I've only been put under once in my life, but it happens really fast - you'll have an IV and then you'll wake up and be like, what happened? I'll pray for you to overcome the fear. You will be just fine!!
