Your itchiness is probably because you were shaved as part of the pre-surgery prep. I also itched until I figured out that the little hairs were trying to grow back--plus, whatever antibacterial solution they swabbed over my stomach/belly area was irritating. I washed it off really well and most of the itchiness went away.

Yes Yes Yes! The #2 definitely is more like #1 coming out! And I agree about the wiping! If I have my pain meds I'm all good...if not it really hurts to twist! That is a great idea to get a small pill instead of the liquid vicodin!

KPB-Today is my 6th day post op. I consider myself to be strong and a trooper. I have done great so far but today I feel like I have just had it! I still need to drink the liquid death too and I hate it. I think it is ruining my taste buds. I am swallowing my ppi which is small just fine so I am thinking of calling surgeon and asking for something small in pill form. I can agree with everything you wrote with one addition and this may be TMI BUT--I have diahrea which I expected but my whole abdomen hurts so bad that I can not twist enough to wipe as well as I would like so now my butt is really irritated. I am a clean freak so it is really bothering me! Just generally irritated today which is not really like me! UGH!!!! :(

Still happy to be sleeved I must say!

ASBGirl - you might just want to hop in the shower, seriously. It will clean you off, and if you're already irritated, it will be a lot more soothing. You can also use those extension/grabber tongs to hold TP for you, so that you don't have to twist or bend nearly as much.

Source: have been on one or more WLS boards for 6+ years, and have heard just about everything. :)

Wheetsin- That is what I did today. Decided I was never going to get in a good wipe so I just hopped in the shower. Still kinda gross but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
