Why must you lose a certain amount of weight? Is this a surgeon requirement or an insurance requirement?

I am sure if you look over your diet you will find the answer. Either your scale is off or you have consumed an extra 18K calories which would be obvious or you have an imbalance.

You are not a failure. Take charge of this, work out, eat right, consume less calories, get your Water in. Rooting for you.

Definitely look at your food journal - that will help. Another possibility if you are female is TOM - that tends to put weight on as well (my last TOM put on 8 pounds!) although for most it's only a couple of pounds. Keep with it, and you will do it! Maybe increase your exercise a bit if you are really worried about it.

Whoa! You're not failing, don't be so hard on yourself! Calm down and take a deep breath and then like they said above, go over your food log / diary and see if there really is a problem that you can fix or if you're right on track. My guess is you're right on track because you're so worried about failing, I can't see you throwing it all away on a box of twinkies lol

Remember, stress plays a huge role in things so take a hot bath, read a book, breathe! Don't stress and it'll happen, k?

*hugs!*

I would definitely take a look a the food diary. Are you consuming anything especially high in sodium? Chinese food will blow me up by Lbs the very next day, I'm not kidding! Of course it's all Water, it would be *impossible* for me to consumer over 7,000 calories in one day! I work at just getting in 1,000...

Anyway that was the end of Chinese food for me. It was a tough break up after but it had to happen. All those bad carbs and MSG did a number on my scale... it was pretty frightening.

Then there is our friend TOM (if you're a woman), that can puff me up for a few days too.. That's totally normal and I just have to wait that one out. Sucks though... LOL :)

Get back on the saddle... lower good carbs, fresh fruits & veggies, lean meats... and lots of exercise and plenty of Water. You will be getting back to your goals very soon. Good luck!

Good luck hon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
